    NOS? Really?

Ever stop to think why Fast and the Furious never tricked out a pickup truck for street racing?

Maybe we need Dom Toretto to run Cuban NOS on a 4cyl Taco to see what happens.

Best way to get more power is sell and buy a V6.

It is my understanding that the 2.7L with 5 speed manual came from the factory with 4.10s in the rear...or at least the 4x4 models did....are the 2 wd models geared differently?

Nope that series engine " 2TRFE " has forged rods and crank but still uses the very fragile "glass" Hypereutectic pistons

These Hypereutectic pistons are known to collapse ring lands and basically shatter . I've seen Hypereutectic pistons get destroyed from spark knock

Rule of thumb for power adders and Hypereutectic pistons . Nitrous don't go above a 50 shot and be careful with your tune . As for turbo apps you should be okay for mild boost of no more than 8psi . Again it all depends on your tune and fuel used

But you're going to have to make sure you don't get spark knock as that will destroy a Hypereutectic piston quickly

The 2TR-FE did not come with forged rods unfortunately. The rods failed before the pistons did in my past experience.

Yes, geared even higher than the 2wd auto which is 3.73:1. I think the 5m is 3.31:1

I don’t want a speed demon or an expensive mod. I like the gas mileage of a 4 cyl. I have heard elsewhere that a larger air intake can help with horsepower, and even a minor increase would be beneficial.

Remove the secondary charcoal filter from the airbox. You just need to drill out the molded plastic rivets that hold it in. Other than that the stock intake is best.

Although I will say the URD CAI looks great by design, but also seems more vulnerable to debris.

And of course snorkel if you are trying to avoid water.

Any recommendations on lightweight wheels? Been perusing for a while and haven't found anything that I like.

Which coils did you end up using? I think my old girl is ready for a little bit of pep.
