Aside from local junkyards are there any good sources for a new tailgate? Color matching not particularly important. I'm not looking to pay $1000+ like most online sources I'm finding ask for

Yup, craigslist is a great place to find all the stolen tailgates!

Yup, I took off my inner panel and wrote my VIN on it with a paint pen for just that reason. If mine was ever stolen local Craigslist is my first stop.

Good luck. I got a minor dent in the top of my tailgate years ago. Daughter backed into something with the tailgate down. It is a minor issue, but I looked for a scrapyard tailgate for months before giving up. If I could have found a white one even if the badges didn't match, I'd have been happy.

I only found a couple in other colors and they were more than I would pay even it had been white. I wasn't going to pay the price they wanted and them and pay to get it painted. I decided I could live with it.

First time my dad and I were going to take out the ATVs he latched the trailer, but it wasn't seated on the ball. Drove up the trailer with the tailgate down (was going to ride up second set of ramps to bed) and WAM. Truck was like a week old. My first new vehicle. My dad damn near looked like he was gonna cry he was feeling so bad for putting a little dent and scratch in the paint (clear down to metal). After taking it in to an auto body place and wanting over 500 to paint it, and another 200 to put the logos back on I bought a 12$ can of toyota touch up and filled the spot so it wouldn't rust. 11+ years later, that's the least of my damage, hahahaha.
