Front hub seal ?

    I got my front hub apart and the new one came with a seal.

    Do you have to remove the axle shaft in order to replace the seal? I don’t really see any other way.

    Technically, No.

    You can undo the 2 lower ball joint mount bolts and the tie rod from the knuckle. Then pull out on the knuckle and swing it out of the way.

    Some guys don’t even undo the tie rod.
    But I do, because I that how I do it.

    You can use the dust cover over axle nut to install the seal. It’s the same size and works good as a seal driver.

    Although, all the aftermarket ones I’ve installed were kind loose and pressed in by hand. I took a punch and lightly staked it in place.

    Awesome. Thank you. I watched a video on replacing the hub and it didn’t mention anything about the seal.
