Just got an email about a recall on my Warn VR EVO-10. Looking on the NHTSA website seems like it's related to the remote and if it gets wet the board can corrode and operate the winch unintentionally.

Not a big enough deal for me to worry about it but if you weren't aware, best to be educated about it.

I did as well. Warn's website doesn't have any info on it yet but a google search led me to this thread. Basically we just need to check our remotes for corrosion and if there is any present to contact Warn and they'll send us a new, more water resistant remote for free.

Glad it's just a problem with the remote, I was dreading the thought of taking my bumper off to replace the whole thing.

After reading the recall on NHTSA, it looks like they are replacing the remote but with a wired one with no wireless option (and a $100 compensation). For those that purchased it with the intention of having wireless capability, the recall remedy may be unsatisfactory.

Do you have to send in the remote?

That's entirely unsatisfactory. My winch is mounted inside my bumper and I specifically wanted a winch with a wireless remote because of that. I wouldn't have purchased this winch if it was $100 cheaper but didn't have a wireless option.

I don't disagree with you. I am in limbo for a recently purchased 10-s right now. I am disputing my purchase because I specifically bought the winch for the wireless option. If I am able to get a refund I'm just going to go with the cheaper Smittybilt x20.

Did anyone get the $100 rebate?

Same as above I opted for the warn evo over the smitty or super thinking I was upgrading and the warn just has wired and a buetooth option.

I filed and they sent another wired remote (no wire) and no word on a rebate or an updated wireless.

This was the page I filled out and when I spoke with warn they said that they are not the ones issuing the rebates.

The rebate is in the form of a coupon code intended to be used on the Warn site, or mine was.

New to winches, but I also wanted the wireless option so I used the coupon code for the wireless hub (to allow phone app control of winch). In a work table mounted driveway test (haven’t gotten bumper yet), I was able to control the winch from probably 75ish feet away. If that translates to a real world setting, I’ll be happy.

    what are those?
Anybody else get a rebate or new wireless remote? Seems like a bit of a rip off mine wasn't even corroded but I followed steps like warn told me to and now I don't have the functionality I paid for.

Interesting, any update when warn will come out with a new replacement wireless remote seems like it has been a while already

So is this recall for the wireless remote only, I opted for a wired remote

Agreed it has been a while. I haven’t kept up with it as the Bluetooth hub seems to work pretty well.

From memory so possibly wrong, if the winch you bought is advertised as having a wireless option, they issue the code for the $100 credit.

I don't think I qualify for the 100 rebate I bought mine off marketplace and had the wireless remote I think the 100 rebate is for newer purchases in the states to offset price of the winch being purchased at same price with no wireless capabilities as advertised
