2020+ Tacoma has auto start correct?

Saw this on Youtube that you push lock 3x and hold on the 4th on the keyfob and it will start?

 

Two short taps and one long. Must have push button start.

 

Only on TRD and above models. (SR, SR5 still use a physical key and don't have remote start)

23 SR5 has push button start too if l am not mistaken.

 

Sr5 with a key does if you buy this. Or one similar.

It turns off once you open the driver side door. Safety feature.

 

Does it work for 2023? Thought I read somewhere that they removed this recently to try to get ppl to buy remote start thru the app. But I could be way off here.

 

Automatic only as well before those guys come in.
Although they do make remote start for the manual trucks.

 

Mine (PTS) works on 2, 3, or 4 press and hold...quite a system. Shuts down when door/s are unlocked (not when a door is opened) by remote (fob or app), touching a door handle, or using the mechanical key.

 

Mine is 1,2,3 and hold 4 and it starts every time and the engine does shut off when opening the door. Doors unlock when touching handle with key fob in pocket. My taco also starts with the extra FOB sitting in the truck.

 

The people that have it have to pay for the service?

I remember that was a thing but maybe it was for the new tundra?

 

I never paid or had any subscription it came with my package.

 

In 2020, you must have needed advanced technology package to have remote start... My TRD sport w/ tech wouldn't start with fob.

 

I’ll be damned…I just tried this and it worked. I don’t remember seeing anything about this in my owners manual. I like it.

 

It doesn't work if you don't have the app subscription anyway...

 

It does. I got the dealer to disable connected services when I got mine and I use remote start every morning!

 

I'll have to try again after my trial expires. I couldn't get it to work until I signed up In the app.

 

You have a 22, so you have to press it 3 times in succession and then hold until the lights flash for the 4th press. Hopefully it works for you!

 

Zero miles to the gallon and it warms up quicker if you get in a drive it!
