Ran across this long but well-done video. Forgot about half of this stuff, but agree with most of the sentiment.

    I miss Dinkelbot.

Shit... It's hard to believe that I've played this game since Alpha. I did take one year off right after TBA came out because I was so sick of the ups and downs in the game. Turns out I missed one of the best seasons right after TBA. But when I came back it was still there for me to play. The thing I miss most is grinding for Pinnacle weapons in PvP. I understand that Bungie has to balance casual player with hardcore players like myself. But I spent months grinding out those weapons and I'm sorry if some people couldn't get The Not Forgotten, Luna's Howl, Revoker, etc... But for those of us that did we shouldn't have been punished because we put in the work. That one thing still pisses me off to this day. Sunsetting weapons and not having pinnacle weapons to chase ruined quite a lot of the game. The fact that PvP is an afterthought and has only received small updates over the years sucks. We went for almost 3 years without a new PvP map. Not only that... They removed some of the better maps only to replace them with shitty maps such as Disjunction.

The state of the game right now? I've given up on PvP for the moment. IB last week was a complete shitshow. Whatever net code changes they have made in the game right now have made it look as if someone is one place when in reality they are in another. There are hundreds of clips from IB last week of people being shot through three different buildings across the map and there was no cheating involved. It was just a shitshow. I've given up on Trials for the time being since:

1: There is nothing to chase

2: Trials is at it's lowest population EVER right now

3: Same weapons other than a new machine gun (big fucking deal) and a mediocre hand cannon.

    What's the use?

The new dungeon is so easy it sucks unless you like playing as an electrician. The new exotic bow has little to no use as the setup time to actually make it worthwhile is so long that you cold have already killed what you were shooting at with a fucking sub machine gun.

All of that said... The new Revision Zero Pulse Rifle quest is great. And it is a great Pulse Rifle. I love how they are making an exotic that you can craft and actually put the perks on that you want to use. The new Heist Battlegrounds are great since they are always 5 power level higher than your current level making them a little bit more challenging.

Voltshot is the best perk they have ever put on a weapon in the game hands down. And if you can get the pattern for Retrofit Escapade and craft it with Fourth Times The Charm and Target Lock and use Gyrfalcon's Hauberk on a Hunter? You will do the most boss damage out of anyone in your raid team as you can constantly proc volatile rounds. Who would have thought a Heavy Machine Gun would out DPS a Linear Fusion Rifle in a Linear Fusion Rifle meta? But it only really works on a Hunter running Gyrfalcon's.

And I actually like the story line of this season. It's a fuckton better than being a fucking space pirate.

I'll be honest with you brother. I haven't played much PvP at all recently. We are in the process of selling our house and moving to Colorado. So Destiny has been put WAY on the back burner. The last time I played PvP was when Strand was just released and no one really knew how to use it (myself included). I wish I would have played Trials on the weekend that the Sub was the Adept weapon a couple weeks ago as that thing is a beast. But Subs are getting a mid season nerf so they might not be as good as they are right now. I went in a few control matches with my regular load out with the Horrors Least Adept and the Burden of Guilt Adept and it is still a great load out that destroys. But I can't really tell you what is the best weapon for PvP right now. I still think you can't go wrong with a crafted Battler, Horrors Least, Ikelos SMG (if you don't have the Trials SMG), or on longer maps... a good scout. One thing that I will say is get your hands on a good sidearm. They will take over once the SMG nerf comes. You can farm the Buzzard from the NF this week and if you get a Rangefinder roll? Keep it. Honestly it doesn't matter what the other perks are. As long as it has Rangefinder you will be golden. Until then use the Ikelos and whatever primary weapon you want to use.

I've only had time to level one character up this season. I haven't even touched my WL or Titan due to us getting ready to move. Day before yesterday we got a full price cash offer on our house and we will close on the 8th of May and we will be moving to Colorado on the 24th of May. So I just don't have the time to invest into Destiny anymore. I did play some private matches with some friends that I play Trials with regularly in Rumble and came out on top each game by a margin of 10 kills or more so I know I still have the ability to play Trials. It's just not a priority right now. As I'm sure you can imagine that selling everything we have, getting my daughter enrolled into the University of Colorado, changing banks, getting my daughter an apartment in Colorado Springs, and just going through the process of selling a house is a logistical nightmare. The house is under contract right now so dealing with everything that goes along with that leaves me little time to play like I used to.

I'm taking my monitor and PS5 to Colorado and putting it in my daughters apartment. But I doubt I'll ever play it. If I do it will be sporadically. My wife and I will be traveling the country in this most of the time:

So we will rarely be back at my daughters apartment. We will be skiing, staying in National Forests, BLM land, and going to all of the places we've always wanted to go. I got to retire when I was 48 and my wife is retiring at 48 also. So we will just point the van in a direction and just go.

It's bittersweet since I spent almost 10 years in this game and made a shit ton of friends but it's time to move on.

Oh... And I still have almost $28,000 worth of upgrades to finish out the van and I'll be done.

That is awesome bro!! Congrats on the move and the house. And awesome travel rig. I'm soo Jelly how you're living. And retiring at 48, that is awesome! I remember you being a fire fighter, first responder before you became a Trials flawless God. Haha! I enjoyed reading your Destiny thread and I have gained some knowledge and grinded even harder for adept. Lol.
Happy for you brother. I hope you add a tesla starlink wifi in that rig to keep playing D2. Your pvp/Trials skills is perishables. Haha..

I, too am in a first responder sector and am looking into retirement but in a few years, when the kids go to college. Hoping to follow your lead and enjoy the quality of life before this job kills me, and enjoy traveling. As Zavala (Lance Redding RIP) would say, Stay safe Guardian..

I'll be the first to admit how fortunate we are at this point in our life. I finished out my career on the FD and was lucky enough to retire at 48. I got lucky and started when I was 21 years old right out of college. Although I will miss Destiny and all of the good times I had in the game, it's time to move on and actually live life. If it weren't for my daughter, we would have done this a couple years ago. But I didn't want to take her out of her school where she is making straight "A's" and is taking nothing but AP classes. It wouldn't have been fair to her to move her across country and away from her friends. So going off to college, no matter where she went, she will be with people that she has never met before so it doesn't matter where she goes. She chose University of Colorado. And that turned out well since that is where we are moving.

We'll get her an apartment since she doesn't want to live in the dorm for the first year being an out of state student. So in doing so, she has to provide that "we" are actually staying there. Which we will for a while until she gets acclimated. Eventually she will get to a point of "Umm... Could you guys just go on and do your own thing?" "I've got my own shit going on here" lol. That is when our adventures will begin. When we went this route we had to have a 4WD Mercedes Benz. That is a 2022 chassis built out on a 2023 conversion. In 2023 Mercedes Benz switched over to an AWD platform and that wouldn't work for us. So this will allow a few things. Both my wife and I love to travel. It will take us to places we want to go with no timeframe and not having to return to work.

The only advise I can give is if you want to do something like this. INVEST AS MUCH MONEY AS YOU POSSIBLY CAN! That is the only way that this will work. While all the other people on the FD were trying to "out buy" each other as a competition. I was investing a lot of money into my pension, Roth IRAs, Deferred Comp, etc... With the sale of our house we will net another $400,000 to add to our investment portfolio. The goal is to have your money make money for you. Passive income.

I've no idea how long this will last? 1 year? 5 years? No idea. But it will allow us to go and see all the things that we have always wanted to see along the way with no timeframe. The main thing is... I have no idea how long I have on this rock. Nothing in life is guaranteed. And not to sound morbid or fatalistic, I already know if I don't die in some strange accident, I will die of some form of cancer due to the amount of chemicals I've been exposed to my entire career. I don't want to be 70 years old and my wife is just retiring and then we can't do the things that we always wanted to do. And I also don't want to be laying on my deathbed thinking back "I sure wish I would have done this while I had the chance". It's a big financial risk but one I'm willing to take.

It's my go to game. Ya I'll play the one off good games like God of war ragnarok and horizon forbidden west and eldin ring when they are the hot new new, but I always come back to destiny to grind until my eyes bleed

I find myself always wanting to do everything, chase the best weapons, unlock all the titles, hit max level, etc. Tons to always do, or don't. Its alll optional

I was wrong. I'm over 8k hours. I deleted 2 characters a while back just to change their appearance and experience the new light stuff when they implemented it

Next time Aphelion's Rest comes up on the rotation for the Master Lost Sector do it (still have 2 hours as of this post). It's one of the easiest Lost Sectors to run. If you are going for Rank 10 this is an easy way to get it. Sub 10 min run just playing it safe. 5 times and 3 exotics. La Monarch is pretty clutch here.

Honestly don't know why I'm doing it since I only have about 3 weeks left in the game. But here I am.

Well... We are in Colorado Springs right now. Been here for a month and a half. Staying at my daughter's apartment until she gets her feet on the ground. It's beautiful here and I feel like I'm now at home and left the god forsaken state that we moved from. So while we are getting everything ready for her to start college in the fall, I've actually had more time to play at night than I expected.

We ran the Wicked Implement Exotic quest last night. For any that haven't run it, you need only one person that has caught all three exotic fish in each zone. That will give you a piece of the blade. Once you do that, you can take anyone with you that doesn't have the exotic fish. Only one person needs the blades.

I would HIGHLY recommend having at least one Divinity and 2 Crafted Retrofit Escapades (Thunderlord works well also). Malfeasance with the catalyst is also a great weapon since you will be fighting Taken the vast majority of the time. It makes short work of the Taken Minotaurs.

Anyway... It took us about 10 runs to finally get it. Here is how we did it.
