I built a smaller and much less elaborate version of the mitre saw table at my last house. It was great and made projects so much easier that it almost felt like cheating.

Funny you say this. We had some down time at work last month so I had one of my guys toss the crappy old work bench at our shop and build us a new one with a spot for the miter saw and it is a dream! I also let him replace the old beat up and out of square miter saw with a brand new Makita. It's so much more enjoyable working back there now.

Got my chopsaw / workbench / Festibule wall and base cabinets laid out and a cut list made up

I'm just building the cases in phase 1 , doors / drawers to come in phase 2 or 10

    I need 16 sheets , planning on using 3/4" C2 Birch plywood

In related news I ordered the Festool OF-1400 router , LR32 55" guide rail and LR32 system to build these cabinets , at least I used them as an excuse to buy the LR32 system haha

I'm using unfinished C2 Birch , I can get it for about $40/sheet less than prefinished and I haven't decided if I'm clesr coating all of it or painting some

Just realized I forgot to add some plywood for the backs of the cases , I'll likely do that with 1/2" C2 Birch , 7 sheets

D2 is $75 USD here. Sounds like plywood prices are similar down here. $120 for one side pre-finished.

not really , been working on my big client renovation but I did some cleaning and organizing in there and may start milling up some of my cabinet components

I have a bunch of online courses I need to take in the next 6 weeks to renew my residential builders licence though so don't hold your breath lol

I'm not sure this is the compliment you may think it is; after all in AZ , a house on a slab over dirt/sand where they don't even bother sheathing in most of the outside walls is the norm. Certainly an accurate statement, but i had a tree fort at age 10 that was built better than most houses in AZ.

In a round-a-bout way , I guess this qualifies as working on the shop

Today I started building a track saw cutting station with the UJK Parf Guide Mk2 system , going to use it to crosscut all my shop cabinet parts

Got my top cut to size and all the 3mm holes in my 96mm centres grid drilled out. The top is made of 18mm (3/4") C2 Birch plywood

Where my rail is sitting in pic #2 is where I think I will generally use it , top is roughly 3' x 6'

I'm planning on buying a Benchdogs.co.uk rail fence system for repeatable cuts

Still need to enlarge all the 3mm holes to 20mm for the bench dogs but that may be next weekend

Finished up my track saw cutting station today

I used the 20mm drill bit to make a shallow scoring cut on the bottom side of the top at each 3mm through hole location . This isn't in the instructions , I saw Ron Paulk do it in one of his videos where he used the Parf Guide system , its to avoid tear out of the plywood veneer on the bottom when you through-drill the 20mm dog hole . The bit is like a brad point forstner and the pilot part is 3mm to centre in the 3mm guide holes but has no drilling ability so you are not supposed to use a backer board below as you normally would for tear out

Top flipped back over , starting to enlarge the 3mm hole pattern to 20mm holes

All holes enlarged to 20mm , top is basically ready

Example of how you can use this to accurately crosscut material perfectly square . The plywood rip I'm cutting is butted up to some short 20mm dogs in a row at the top of the cutting station and my guide rail is butted to taller 20mm dogs at very top and bottom of the hole pattern assuring that the resulting cut will be a perfect 90 degree square cut

I'm using Stanton Dog Locks to solidly register my guide rail against the tall dogs but you can do this same operation just pushing the guide rail against the tall dogs during the cut

My 1800mm Benchdogs.co.uk rail fence is supposed to be delivered on Wed , I'll take a pic of it installed after it arrives
