I like how the grill lights match your amber turn signals, that looks pretty good. Thanks for the picture. What is "selective yellow"??

The attached link will answer your question much better (and faster) than I can. Once you run in crap weather with it in the Max fogs, you'll never go back to clear / white light.

Easy enough. Here is the same light. One with the backlight on, and one with the main beam on. The backlight is strictly an aesthetic feature. It's a single LED that illuminates the lens without the main power beam being on. You have the opportunity to wire them however you'd like via wire tap, but most folks will tap either their parking light or DRL for activation.:

What do you mean the backlight function? They look great in the grill? Is there a kit for the Tacoma? My girl would love a set of red ones to match her truck. It looks great your taco

Just a word of caution on the backlight color - even though it's strictly cosmetic. Most states regulate the forward-facing colors you can have, and red is a generally a big no-no.

I wonder if anyone has tried putting a DD SSC2 or Morimoto 2Banger with the TRD Pro foglight bezel?

You would have to cut the bezel to allow the whole light to be visible. I guess a man could get creative with a dremel tool and leave some of the frame. However even at that, it would defeat the purpose of the bigger foglight not being able to project all of the light beam through it.

I used the original Rigid fog housing, took out the light, and had to fabricate the light housing to accommodate the @Diodedynamics SSC2. I wanted to keep an oem look while at the the same time upgrade to a high level light like the SSC2. I had to use the Dremel on the inner portion of the Rigid bezel to permit a flush mounted appearance. I used SSC2 for the oem fog location, SSC2's underneath near the skid plate, and SSC3 and C1 for the ditch lights.

You're very welcome! The beauty of it too is that the Rigid housing isn't destroyed so if you wanted to use it again, you could. I tried the JDM ones that someone linked in a thread, but the @Diode Dynamics SSC2 didn't fit. I was determined because the Diode Dynamics are amazing light in my opinion. I'm sure there can be some improvements, but it's solid and adjusts as well if I need it too. If you need anything else, let me know.

Cool mod, but you did not re-install fogs. You installed the combo optic, which includes flood and is basically a short range high-beam. It will blind everyone on the road and be absolutely worthless in poor weather. It should be used as off-road only. I’d recommend installing the SAE fog optic for far better performance.

Thank you for the suggestion and I understand what you might think would happen. Yes, the lens is a "Combo" and not "Fog", and I reference the lights in general as a fog light themselves. However, the combo lens has given me better performance than the fog, which I had installed originally, and swapped for the combo. I did not mention this, but I flipped the lens on the combos to place the beam inwardly towards the center of the road, and have angled them to avoid the oncoming traffic. I don't get flashed by other drivers and my visibility is great with this setup as intended, on and off road. That's why I'm also thankful @Diode Dynamics makes various lens for the desired outcome of each person's individual build. I do agree it is important not to blind others on the road, and being mindful of this is important.

You cannot aim a flood light down to avoid blinding oncoming traffic, regardless of the aim it will still be blinding and ineffective. I 100% guarantee you that @Diode Dynamics will not support running a combo flood on the street as a fog will be an acceptable lighting practice. It doesn't matter how they are angled or what position the optic is orientated. The only acceptable fog is the SAE fog optic, bar none, zero exceptions.

I never mentioned @Diode Dynamics supporting my choice of how I run my lights, and my post was not to make it about them, but only share what I did for my mod to my truck. I agreed with you about blinding others, and won't debate that point of view, neither my build that I am happy with. It serves the purpose I wanted and that is exactly what it is doing, respectfully stating of course.

Great job on the lights man. Had this same idea and glad to see it works with a little modification.
