Running the solar to your regular battery, or do you have a dual/relocation?

I’d say better to have it bed level than not at all. You could get a cb antenna bracket from Rago or somewhere and mount it by the tail light too. Higher is better, but it’s better than nothing!

Damn, they look good. Good to keep in mind as mine get used and abused by the MN DOT and their enthusiasm for salty roads.

Did you disassemble them entirely for painting? How do the threads on the coilovers do with the paint?

i vote chop it, especially if you can swap that plate part with some HDPE or some light aluminum. Presumably the tubing is mitigating most of your damage, so might as well as some lightness.

for the lights, honestly I’d probably move them down. I have a roof bar (diode dynamics in a spot pattern) and it’s great but it still spills a ton onto the hood/into my vision if there’s any sort of precip/particulates in the air. I’m thinking I’ll leave it because it’s so well integrated into my rack, but I’ll probably be adding some spot pattern SSC5s or something similar when I rebuild my front bumper as the primary long-range lighting.

agreed, it’s already a pre runner style bumper anyways. Would you try to chop the lower part up any to get some clearance up front? How do the lights on the roof stay in place?

Do not do that ! The drone will be worse with the tip right at the muffler. Put the muffler under the cab so you still have some decent tail pipe length and keep it dumped at the axle. You really solve drone by using a resonator properly. Talk to your exhaust guy about a resonator, you could fit both a muffler and a resonator under the cab.

I really like the idea of putting them there. I know you said KC lights but just FYI, Baja Designs makes flush mounted lights which would be perfect for that. They even offer different lenses for spot, flood, scene, or even combo patterns.

That's my plan for when i swap to the coastal offroad bumper -- theirs has cutouts for forward facing as well as slightly outward facing that I'll probably use for the ditch lights and move em down from the hood.

Another vote for mounting the lights in the bumper valance. I'm not a huge fan of a-pillar ditch lights either, but that would look clean.

Dam, this is screen saver material. Looks so good. I used to run KC’s in the roof rack with smiley faces. I miss that look.

You ever try Steel It for painting your rusty surfaces to see if it would hold up any better?

Stuff seems to work fantastic, it's just expensive, and I don't live where any salt gets on my truck.

Also had good luck with some VHT aerosol on my rear drums. Plenty of locals have painted theirs but the rust comes right back through in months. Mine have been painted and still look fantastic.
