    Hey guys,

Looking for an affordable front bumper protection solution. The idea and price point of a bull bar seems like a win to me. The more I look at them though, the more uncertain I become. The mounting solutions I see on some of these just make them seems like cosmetic add-ons. Are there any bull bars out there that will actually hold up to bumps/very low speed impacts?

Most posts I see make them seem like just a cosmetic trend. Any affordable ($600 or less) suggestions if a bull bar isn't the answer?

I recommend going with a full bull bar. I have full front hoops on my Tacoma (see pic). While I think it makes the truck look awesome, the benefit is the much higher level of protection to both the front grill and the headlights. The bar I have is from CBI, but there are other options out there that are just as good.

If you are not worried about front impacts, and you only want a way to mount a winch, then I think the low profile options are viable.

    They’re damage multipliers.

Semi hidden/ow profile winch mount will be the best compromise if you don't want to go the full bumper route.

Bull bars protect your front end from nothing other than bugs, and even that they do poorly.
