It really depends on the location. I've gotten bad gas from Costco before (from their food court too). I started going to my local Costco's fuel last year when prices were so high. Almost a $1 a gallon cheaper at times compared to anywhere else and it's been fine, no issues. Probably since they sell so much of it. Seems like a fuel truck is dumping off every time I go. I do add my own Techron fuel injector cleaner though.

That's a horrible idea. What time?
25+ years of Costco gas, 110k on the Tacoma, and never an issue with the gas.

The issue you're having was similar to a lot of others and maybe resolved by a tune. Mine was.

Was going to post this. Even if you think Top Tier is snake oil, Costco is on this list and like others have said, cheaper by nearly $1 here in Seattle. Would I pay more just to make sure it’s certified Top Tier? No, but of all the brands listed, I’d rather hit one of them up vs Bud’s Butthole Gas N’ Save or the like.

98% of the fuel we purchase for the new RAV4 or my Taco is from Costco. The remaining 2% would be from Chevron if I'm not making the 12 mile trek northbound or the 14 mile trek southbound to either of the 2 Costcos I have in my locale. I always pump the 87 octane for both rigs and can't say that either run poorly but for the sake of hard core science, a 4# bucket of Jelly Belly's, and my weekly rotisserie yard-bird for the BBQ grill, I'm at 1/4 tank on the Taco so I'll go north and fill up with 91 and see if there is a noticeable difference in performance.

I always hesitated getting gas at Costco because ew gross I’m not using discount gas in my truck.

Then I learned it’s a top tier gas, so it’s going to be just as good as other top brands. With the exception of shell power v.

That's my southern Costco destination with SLO being my northern. Even in the middle of the day, The Santa Maria mega-site flows pretty fast and is without a doubt, the cleanest and likely safest spot in the entire city! SLO is very small by comparison and the initial merge to the pump lanes is an absolute cluster fuck thanks to some highly stupid members but the trick is always bare hard left for the extreme left bank of pumps. Everybody seems so anal about lining up on the "proper" side to have your Gashole facing the pump when in reality, the hoses are YUUUGE and it's easy to stretch to the opposite side. The left bank is often near empty due to this phenomenon. Also, go in after 7pm and it's deserted!

The reason there is generally no wait at Chevron is because they are usually more expensive!

    None.
CostCo … long waits. The pumps open early. Visit 45 minutes before the store opens and your wait will be very short … maybe no wait.

Otherwise; I am continuously amazed at so many folks’ inability to pay and pump their own gas. Perhaps this is fodder for a YT channel?

Ever since I got my OTT tune I run either Costco Premium or Mobil/Exxon. Never had any issues here in Metro NY.

$2.999 a gallon 87 RON at Costco in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho (usually cheaper than Costco in Spokane, WA). I haven't noticed any problems with the 4-cylinder powered '07 Malibu or '09 Tacoma...

Let me help, the question is about the quality of Costco gas. Belongs in the General forum. Could be asked about a Prius as well.
