black box between re

What is this between my rear seats, and how do I remove it? 2011 Access Cab.

 

Looks like an amp for the stereo system?

 

Tracking device.

 

Marketed as a "subwoofer" though it's apparently just a 6x9 size speaker in the box.

I have no idea if it still works. I'm not much into listening to loud music, I just know it's been kind of in the way over the years. I never paid it much attention other than thinking it looked kind of goofy, but now I want to get rid of it because I need more room to store my traction boards. I was hoping there might be a YouTube video that shows the process of removing it, you know, prior to just starting by ripping everything out and then finding that there was an easier way.

I am sure the sub has a wiring harness that you can just unclip and hide somewhere out of the way.

Yeah. They put that goofy system in some of them. I’ve only seen one other one. I’m like you, never got into loud music. It would only be in my way as well.

 

I don't know, man. I kind of love how goofy that thing looks. It's like a Flux Capacitor.

 

Thanks guys, this is exactly what I was hoping to learn with my post. I'm always a little hesitant to post a potentially "stupid" question, and hopeful that I won't get too many comedians replying with non useful information, but you gave me just what I was looking for!

If anyone wants it let me know, it's yours for the cost of packing and shipping. I don't know if it works, I never used it as far as I know, and the outside is pretty scuffed up from having other stuff smacked up against it, but it's just going to go to electronic recycling otherwise.
