A bit of both, after I traded by 19 TRDOR for a GMC 1500 Denali, I always missed the taco. I had put deposits down for a TRD Pro 6 MT and 3 dealerships since early 21, but the Pro's they received were either the wrong transmission or the wrong color.

After selling my Denali and the F350 for the COVID driven profits, I needed a truck and the 23 Tundra popped up at Legends in Lunar Rock so I ended up taking it because I no longer wanted to daily my 21' LC200 or my other cars (want to keep them for as long as possible).

Mechanically it is top notch in terms of the almost linear power delivery from the twin turbo and the 10 speed, and the TRDOR suspension is very comfortable. However, the overall quality is a let down by Toyota standards. In my brief (less than three months/5000 miles ownership) nothing broke, however, there were weird noises, rubber seams that did not fully align or match the two sides, a head unit that behaved finickily and other minor niggles that lead me to believe the new Tundra is not ready for prime time. It felt like it was built by GM and not Toyota. And of course, no front tow hooks on the new Tundra!!!

When Olathe Toyota finally did get my TRD Pro 6MT allocated and built, a combination of my insurance carrier refusing to add a ninth vehicle, Olathe Toyota giving me a reasonable trade in value for the Tundra, and not wanting to sell one of my other rides, I ended up trading the Tundra for the Tacoma Pro to save on sales tax.

I do not miss the Tundra at all, and the Taco even though smaller and slower, always puts a smile on my face.

My 23 Pro 6 MT is much more refined than my 19 TRDOR 6MT was, so much so, that I do not feel the need to have the accumulator deleted or get an engine tune.

Toyota is known to keep refining its vehicles year after year, so hoping they do the same for the Tundra and then maybe in a couple of years I will look at getting one then.

I had Adams Toyota run my VIN and they had nothing in the system for recalls. If you want to take a shot and pull up something I can take to them, I can hold off on the Hewitt delete for a couple weeks.

Love the GM shade throwing!:stirthepot:

It's a common issue. The original recall campaign said something about 'ambient moisture making it's way into the valves causing corrosion over time'. or something similar.

What year is your truck? Don’t remember anything about a recall on that. Did hear about the crappy foam filter creating issues and replaced that. How bad is it to replace or remove?

I was really considering one but after everything I went through with my 16 Tacoma, I didn’t want to be a Guinea pig for year one. I’m sure in another couple years it’ll be a lot better than it is today.

Neither do I , at least not at the house. I keep the rarely driven ones either at a rental unit or in storage. At home, its the four most used: Taco (current daily), LC, Sequoia, and the LS430.
