Not sure who this will help but there is a recall on air switching valves and pump. Below see mine

If someone has a '12 that they have not yet had this service campaign (not a recall) performed on, shame on them.

Sounds like this is the famed Uni-Filter "mod" on the secondary air pump....yes?...no? If so, I wonder if they're going to use THAT MUCH of an "improved filter" or just replace the crap one that comes with it.

Just purchased a 12 TX pro.
The secondary air was replaced by dealer at purchase. My 08 w/196k was t-boned and totaled sucks she was like new underneath. I should have taken my unifilter off but didn’t. Looks the same to me? I’ve seen posts by later yrs and posts about the replacement failure also.
I will be removing the foam and doing the unifilter mod soon been cold here.
Hoping the new one is better but seems it’s more than the filter?
Water in the system stuck valves etc.
But my 08 never had an issue with the mod done for close to 80k.

Had this done on my '12 in September by the dealership because I was throwing codes. Fortunately I knew about this and came armed with the Special Service Announcement

Same as above got mine done a few months ago all for free. Seems that 80K miles is around
the time it all starts to go down hill. Been fine ever since. I put the UNI filter from my old
pump on the new one that has a big plastic hood over it. The unifilter hids up inside so much
you can't even see it . If your model year is in the range and have not done this please
take advantage of this free offer while you still can.

My question is are they only going to replace it if the check engine light is on? I haven’t had any issues with my 2012 trd off-road

I had been told they would only do the repairs if the CEL was on and codes P2440 and P2442
were stored in pcm. On mine it was intermittant. But the light was on and the codes
I read before taking it to the dealer. Was repaired without question.

This system is so garbage. They claim to have fixed it in the ‘13-15s, but mine went out in my ‘13 around 100k.

I just shelled out for the Hewitt delete kit today. I hope the stories of them failing after so many miles aren’t true.

This is a service campaign and will only be performed if the requirements are meant and your vehicle is covered.

I’ve been running the older version of the Hewitt tech bypass for a few years now and I haven’t experienced any issues. I don’t drive the truck much but so far it’s been working great. Well worth the peace of mind.
