For the price you can’t beat them! They’re cheap and they float. Perfect for getting used a few times a year.

    Nothin crazy yet...
    Im also interested in this...
I like the look of the Prinsu, and the potential for a basket in the future - but Ive got a 16' Roylex Mohawk and fairly concerned about the width extending past the edges once up on er'...

This may be a dumb question, but does Prinsu offer auxiliary bar style extenders that I could mount on an as-needed basis?

You can buy longer extrusions from other vendors. And end caps to give it a finished look.

Sorry for reviving an old thread, but this is the way. Would it be tough for an average 5'5" 100 pound woman to get the kayaks on the rack? I'm 6'3" and 180, but I want to set the bar low for myself ;)

Just hoping to avoid part of that will and way involving broken bones, a pissed off wife, and/or a banged up truck!

18 foot 25 lb carbon fiber or 16 foot 45 lb Tupperware? How much can you lift over your head and control it?

Is it really as simple as lopping it onto the rack while holding it from the side/middle?

‘If I had 4-6 thousand in a carbon fiber kayak there would be no lopping. You also don’t want to lop it into the truck quarter panel or hood.

Cheap kayaks, expensive truck, so definitely more concerned about the truck.

A little context: I don't own kayaks yet, but want a few after using them this weekend. I have a prinsu rack that I've considered selling because it doesn't get a ton of use. If I purchased kayaks, I could potentially use the rack for them while filling the bed with camping/other gear. That would make the rack worth it, so long as the general consensus is that it's practical and relatively easy for me and/or my wife to get them up there without damaging the truck.

2 people is my preference for loading / unloading kayaks on a roof rack. Borrow a kayak pick it up hold it over your head, walk 10 feet, gently put it down. The rig I had, had wheels on the back. I just had to pick up the kayak front and roll it on.

Sounds like a good enough reason to buy kayaks! Super easy if you have your wife in the bed of the truck helping stabilize the kayak while you lift it.

I know this post is from a while ago--on the off-chance you're still watching this, how on earth did you mount your J Cradle Rhino Rack to your Prinsu crossbar? I only have the sandwich plates they sent, and there isn't enough clearance with the new Prinsu crossbars to mount using it (the top side of the Prinsu cross bar is the same as the one you have--they introduced a smooth bottom bar that requires side L mounts to mount to the top of the truck, which reduces the clearance to the truck body). I probably wouldn't want to use the sandwich plates anyway--I foresee them coming loose. I don't see sandwich plates on the image you shared of your J Cradle kayak rack...what are you using to secure it to the Prinsu crossbar channel?
