Hi everyone, so I have a weird issue going on with my Tacoma. I was up in the hills and backed into a tree and broke a tail light, so I bought some OEM style taillights tinted and now I have a major electric issue. I only have my drive side driving light in the rear and when I hit the brakes my blinker light on the dash turns on the driving light goes out and my right reverse light turns on as a brake. I also have led cubes in the bumper and when in reverse and brakes are applied the driver side cubes goes out(yes I tried removing the cubes) nothing changed any thoughts?

Please define "OEM style". Aftermarket tail lights can be hit-and-miss, and can contain wiring issues right out of the box. What brand did you get? A lot of us have had good luck with the TYC brand Certified head lamps from Rock Auto. :notsure:

Otherwise, if you're familiar with how to use a multimeter and trouble shoot circuits, get yourself a digital copy of the Factory Service Manual (FSM), and pull up the wiring diagram. Google "2003 tacoma FSM". should be able to find the pdf pretty easily.

these are the tail lights I went with. But before buying these I had a friend give me the stock tail lights out of an older 1st gen Tacoma and I was having the same issue. I have been doing a little testing on it but I was just wondering if I could get a better starting point on where to test

Confirm the new tail lights work. This will require jumping the non performing side.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
Does your truck have the evil converter box for a 4 pin trailer harness ??

I wonder did the impact cause that to be damaged?

****Physical damage to the wiring harness or the light connectors that was missed.*****

    Plain old aftermarket quality control.

unplug the new light see if things work as they should with your meter .

    Happy Hunting!!

Shot in the dark but I had similar issues with my Taco. I went to every extreme but still had no luck and I was using OEM tail lights. I had about given up when one day I was detailing it and took the seat out and found a wire pulled out of the harness that clips to the floorboard under the driver side. Stuck it back in and whamo, everything works as it should. Worth a look I suppose.

It does not have the trailer plug on. Also I will pull the seat out and take a look!

I am currently experiencing my passenger side running lights not working. I also purchased those same taillights. Did you ever figure out your issue?
