Where did you get the Tacoma letters? I would rather "Tacoma" on my grill than "Toyota"

One last question; Any tips on making sure I install the TSS correctly to avoid any issues?

EDIT: I have seen some suggestions RE: the Pro grill to add a washer to the top screw location because the TSS is a little lower.

Looks like the black out cover for the Tacoma on the door.

No joy. I'll keep playing with it but it does concern me the code is persistently on beginning at start up.

I have an appointment with the dealer for a TSS calibration this Wednesday morning. I'll wager the conversation will revolve around we can't do that with your aftermarket grill. I'm looking forward to it.

I canceled the dealer appointment, deciding to continue tweaking the sensor.

My thought process was the grill has a lot of good engineering in it and I should try the other mounting options. I relocated the sensor to the top spot ... BAM ... it now works like OEM.

A bit of unnecessary drama but it's fixed with little hassle in the end. And I can now take that front grill on/off in seconds.

I got mine installed a couple of weeks ago - love it. It sure beats the Cheese grater and is not the ubiquitous PRO grill (no offense to the PRO grill, they are nice, just everybody has one) I am not lifted and the TSS was never an issue.
TIP: install the sensor on the the acrylic shield first and then install the acrylic shield to the the grill - that worked for me.

Just an update on my grill:
I know the TSS is the biggest concern when changing out the grill from stock, at least it was for me.
It got it's first real test yesterday when I drove 1.5 hours each way between Winston Salem and Chapel Hill NC on I40.
The variable cruise control which uses the close in radar of the TSS worked flawlessly. I will add one caveat my truck is at stock height so I can't speak to what a lift may or may not do. I am not willing to drive my truck at full speed towards a brick wall to test the pre-collision function but if the close in radar is working for the CC I think it's reasonable to assume it will work for the pre-collision function as well.

I have gotten a few questions and complements on my grill, even my wife admitted it was an improvement.
And one other thing - just say no to the tacky Rapter lights (is that be judgemental) - you have a Toyota not a Ford wannabe for God's sake.

I was wondering why the bottom of the grille seemed a bit loose. Pretty sure the guy I bought the trim piece from has a 2021.. man, if only I kept my original ‘19 OR Grille when I changed it out for the Pro. I found your grille about 4 months later and new I would get it one day. Today is the day but I’ll have to buy that older style bezel.

    thanks for posting that!

NP, yeh I don't want customers ordering the wrong trim, it seems like an easy thing to do if you're not aware.

The 2020+ trim piece will result in a big gap between the grille and the trim. While the 2016-2019 has just enough room for tolerance between the grille and the trim and what it was originally designed for.

Indeed. I went through this entire forum a few times over the years, but that piece didn't click in my head I guess. It's a lot to keep up with on your end with all of the trim levels and changes within over the years. Especially since this is effectively a side-gig for you. Thanks for all you do!

I got mine installed a few nights ago. Installation was a snap. took it for a drive afterwards and everything seemed to be working mint. Fast forward to this morning, headed out on a road trip to Rhode Island for work and about 5 miles in the light came on and I got the "Clean sensor" BS. Glad I found this thread I'll have to tweak it a bit when I get home. No big deal. I Love this grill, looks amazing! Drilled a hole up top to mount my Natika camera no issues there.

I had a similar experience. After the install everything worked well for a few weeks then after driving in heavy rain the next morning I got the Clean Sensor light. I took a folded up 3x5 card (a credit card would work as well) and folded a lint free cloth (for cleaning eye glasses) over it add used that to clean the front of the sensor. The space between the grill and the sensor is way to narrow to get your fingers. It's been ~ 6 week since and no light. I keep my handy sensor cleaning tool in the glove box just in case though.

But yeah - my grill makes my truck. We are over run in Tacos here in rural NC - literally I am not kidding they are everywhere and I have yet to see another one with an X-Trek grill (tons of Pros grills though) and on top of that I bet I am the only one with a Tacoma logo. I came out of Sheetz about a week ago and a guy in an electric green (it looked like a 70s MoPar color) 2023 Off Road was looking at my grill. I have removed the TRD 4X4 Off Road graphics on the side of the bed so he was puzzled.

How are y’all adhering letters and logos to the front? The 3M double-sides tape?

i slapped one of these on using 3m tape (cut the screw tabs and sanded a bit). that was about 2 years ago. been through car washes and driven thousands of miles. actually surprised how well it has held up.
