I was going to add the Taco door nameplates too and then figured why should I bother if Toyota was too damn cheap to put them on!

Different (softer feeling, to me) suspension, rear locking diff and i think TRD OR got the fancy electronically controlled offroad stuff like crawl control, atrac and whatever else now? actual TRD OR owners will be able to confirm.

I got them as a christmas present, my dad had found some that someone makes and sells on ebay for like $15 that were actual emblems and not just the overlays so the parents got those for a christmas present for me!

Mechanically, they are the same truck. You do lose the locking rear diff, crawl control and MTS. I've had 2 TRD off road 4runners with those options and for how I use the vehicle, I've never once needed any of those features. I'm sure a hard core off roader might but 4wd alone has always got me where I need to go on the hunting property roads. Plus, as crazy as it sounds when you dont get those options, you get a sunglass holder instead and I told my wife many times, I'd give up those features just to have a sunglasses holder. Haha.

Thanks, I'm actually the opposite. E-locker is a must for me and has been required equipment for wheeling for me since I owned my 01 Taco and 97 4Runner that had them. Right now I have a 2nd gen Pre-runner that is just a commuter so I can live with the fact that I have a completely useless truck for offroad. :)

I think that's a great reason why Toyota offers so many different trims because for some people the locker and extras are very useful. Sounds like the TRD off road or TRD pro may be for you or possibly the trail edition that only comes with the locker but not the crawl control or MTS.

add the flares....I put those tire/wheels on my 2019 SR....mud all down the truck............traded that in on a 22 TRD SPORT......nice truck, and yes a little pricey compared to the SR

I do believe the fender flares would be a very nice upgrade. A friend of mine just bought a new 22 TRD Sport and he loves it but like you said a good bit more than the base SR. I kind of like the build process so the SR was the perfect choice for me since mechanically they are the same truck.

Hello everyone! New to the forum and just bought my first Taco - 2023 Silver SR5. Looking to do some mods and looking at some of y’all’s pics, I really like those grills. If you don’t mind me asking, where can I get one at?

Very smart - in retrospect I wish I would have done the same thing - I definitely like my locker (the other stuff MTS etc. I never use) but for the diff in $$$ I could have easily added one and have done a lot more. In my case we are talking $7k (I got a 22 OR used). BTW, nothing against the Pro grill but I just sold my stock 22 OR cheese grater grill to a guy who wanted it for his 23 SR5 and I told him I would have traded in a heart beat (I already installed an X-Trek grill) - I really really like that stock SR grill.
