I actually just spoke with Master Yota on the East Coast about the OTT. He said basically what you all are saying. That its unlikely it'll be identified by the dealership. But that only certain Toyota techs can be able to find it if they where looking for it as all our trucks have a black box so to speak. Those techs are rarely called in to assist. They're typically not even employees of the dealership. They get called in for extreme analysis. But like everyone else has said, you can always revert it back to stock if you gotta run to a dealership real quick then apply the OTT again when you're done.

It absolutely can be detected. We discussed this in-depth in this thread. It is very easy to detect.

The better question would be, is the dealership looking at your ECM CVN?

The answer to that question is a resounding no.

I don't believe there has been any record of a single truck getting a warranty claim denied because of the OTT tune.

My truck with a tune failed my state's smog test directly because of the tune. The testing facility I went to does a straight ECM test instead of a sniffer. My state's laws recently changed making any minute change to the ECM automatically fail.

The guys over at OTT just got their tune SEMA Certified and are in the process of getting a CARB EO# which will make the tune legal in any state that requires an unmodified ECM.

See the thread I linked above for way too much information on this topic.

OP, to actually answer your question, it is a grey area.

At this point in time, it seems Toyota has not denied a single warranty claim to anyone with the OTT tune, or any tune for that matter.

That sets a precedent, and it seems like you would be absolutely safe to get a tune and not worry about it voiding your warranty, but understand that does not mean that precedent can't change in the future.

With that being said, the OTT tune is by far my favorite modification I have made to my truck. It makes it an absolute joy to drive.
