    Selling on OfferUp a few times pissed me off enough that I'll never use it again. Craigslist sucks, but I rarely deal with shitkickers in the flesh, at least.

    If someone responds to my CL ad and offers something stupid low, I reply with a higher price…for them.

    It really did. They called the bank branch to verify funds and that’s how it was revealed. Still blows my mind today.

    The growing trick on offer up is to list a shipping price for said item, the seller preprints a shipping label for a few dollars and when the item arrives the buyer is left to pay the balance. Offer up support says its between the seller and the buyer and offers no solution or help. I find the sellers on offer up to be a shady lot

    In my experience trying to buy used is usually a fruitless endeavor unless your located on the west coast.

    I've had some pretty good experiences with CL. I haven't sold a lot but has always worked out over the years. Never used offer up / FB market place.

    No kidding? I swear people work harder to be shady than doing things the honest way.

    You should see some of the BS we have to deal with behind the scenes here. Mind blowing.

    So I have a love/hate relationship with CL. It used to fire me up, but now I don't care. The low-ballers drive me crazy. Anything I've sold, I always make sure and post information about what things cost new. I'm not looking to rip anybody off and my prices are typically very reasonable. I'm not looking to get rich, but I'm not giving it away type of dude. No matter what I put in the ads, some jackass will come along and offer me some insanely low price. Sometimes I screw with them, sometimes I ignore them. I don't know what makes them think I'll take them seriously when they haven't even looked at the item in person. Patience is key on CL. The right buyer will come along.

    Speaking of which, I always try to be fair when I'm selling something in a public forum. First come, first served type of thing. On CL, I've gotten to the point of picking and choosing who I'll sell to. It's crappy, but it saves headache in the long run.

    Speaking of which: anybody interested in a 2001 Silverado with low miles in very good shape?? :D

    Never like the "shipping" idea on OfferUp or CL. Local transaction with cash and carry is my only choice.

    I advertised a digital piano on Craigslist and got a response that was suspect. Said "I NEED this". Then said he didn't want to use Craigslist email, asked me to email him directly. That was all there was in the message. His email was his first and last name, which were not common. So I googled him. History of armed residential robbery, car jacking, etc. and 6 days ago picked up for mail theft. Drugs were involved in all his crimes. Then I saw he had a Twitter account;

    I used to search Offer Up but ever since they bought Letgo, too many bloopers like can't log in, ad won't load, and presto!! a neat disappearing act. Gave it up.

    The shipping stuff is suspect, only looked at local ads.

    You’re standing between this man and the musical therapy he needs to find his way back from the depths of hell.

    Music does soothe the savage beast. Carl should have built a friendly rapport system with buyer who's dealing with some kind of strife. :rofl:

    There’s the potential for a Lifetime or Hallmark Channel script in there. And yet, so much more potential for a Dateline 20/20 episode, or First 48…

    I got another potential buyer coming Monday. He gave his name and mentioned the city he's driving in from. Naturally, I Googled him. Seems like an upright citizen, younger guy works for Google. I have not given him my last name or address. He's to call me when he's his way and I'll give him the address to the parking lot of a mall close to home. Meet him in public first, then to my house if the vibe is right.
