I’m looking to get a high clearance bumper with a swing out soon for my DCLB.

My bike fits in the bed with the tailgate closed but I might end up getting another bike in the future and would need the tailgate down with two in the bed.

Are you guys just using hitch haulers or trailers.....or can you temporarily remove the swing out?

I don’t have room for a trailer and don’t want one and can’t stand the hitch haulers.....this would be one downside for the swing out.

Are you saying there is a market for a swing out that also folds down. Hhhmmm, I may have to fire up the welder and experiment.

My parents had a station wagon that the tailgate that did that, perfect for doing my paper route off the back after I had slept in.

I would just ditch the swing out idea. You already have a spare under the bed. A tray style hauler with a bike on it will deff get in the way of a swing out.

I don’t think I will ever install a swing out. The 5ft bed is too short for most everything with the tailgate up. If you can’t part with the swing out, a trailer might be your best bet. It’s also easier to load and unload.

Since it’ll be rare that I have two bikes in it I guess I’ll look for one that can be removed if the time comes.
Didn’t think it was such a rare occurrence!

    Trailer is in order.
Not sure why some try so hard to work around it.

    That doesn’t fit the load?
If I doesn’t fit, it still ships.

At the moment a trailer is not an option and I don’t want to go back to a hitch hauler.

The swing out would only be a problem with two bikes in the bed, one fits with it closed.
Worst case I guess I could remove the swing out.

    Thanks for the input!
