I'm thinking about flipping it. Good deals are few and far between right now. Have to jump on them when they pop up.

 

I know about a dozen other FJR owners with Laam seats who are very happy with them. If you're in the Redding, CA area you can even schedule a ride in build and he'll do it while you wait. I don't get anything from talking him up I just figure when one of us finds a good product or service the point of a forum is to help each other.

 

No way, I was in Redding earlier this week when I did my motorcycle trip! Looking at his address I rode right by it on the way home.

Also hoping to print a set of vice jaw things to hold the fork for the install:



Designed two versions, 1 that uses the head of an M5 hex cap bolt into the fork hole, and another that uses the thread of an M8 bolt. Figured I'd print both and see which one fits more snugly.



A couple bucks in PLA sure beats the hell out of $60+ that some sites are asking for a set of the tools

 

You could always let him redo the Versys seat.......

 

Hopefully it works because a couple bucks in shipping is a lot cheaper than $60+ in tools

 

I've spent too much on this $3k, 15 year old Versys already to justify another $600 on a seat right now. Especially with it not wanting to start.

 

Anyone here ride with bluetooth headphones in? Looking for a set that won't break the bank and will be decent at blocking out road noise (in-ear?). My dad lent me a set of Samsung Galaxy Live with are sorta in-ear but open enough and they are pretty meh at blocking out wind noise., unlike my corded headphones. Unfortunately, the cord makes it so I can't use my quadlock for GPS nav in strange areas.

 

Have you tried it yet? I tried a couple times but it always hurt my ears to get the helmet over. They were small in-ear buds and for what ever reason I could never find a comfortable way to get the helmet on/off without it hurting as the padding slid over them.

 

I don't like riding with headphones in, but if I were to go that route I'd go with Etymotics. They go so far in your ear that just the wires stick out so you can get your helmet on/off. They're not bluetooth (don't think you could get bluetooth headphones that would be small enough) but you could plug them into a bluetooth dongle and pair it to your phone that way.

 

I ride with my Airpod Pro's in regularly. They're low profile enough to not be annoying with the helmet on. It's also nice that you can turn the sound transparency on and off to either let in or block the outside noise. My only complaint is that they sometimes fall out of my ears while i'm riding but that probably has more to do with the shape of my ears than anything else.

 

You should return that Rust-Oleum clear and buy one of these clear coat options --

SprayMax 2k Clear or Eastwood 2k Clear

Trust me on this. The Rust-Oleum single stage clear coat will not have the glossy finish you are looking for and it is no where near as durable as a 2k clear. I have used the SprayMax and would recommend it since it is cheaper than Eastwood.

 

I used my AirPod pros when I first started riding, they’re just big enough that on the longer rides they would start to get painful which is why I got my Cardo unit.
I never could find the Goldilocks Bluetooth earbuds that I could use for everything.

I have ordered almost everything to mount the Galaxy Tab 3 to my dash and I’ll pair my Cardo unit to that (I think) so that all of my audio regardless of originating at the tablet or iPhone will go through the tablet and into my Cardo.

 

I'm not looking for a glossy finish(I got all Satin stuff). So would that matter? Not a smartass question, just not a painter. I'm also not looking for a show quality finish. Just want a white bike


Durable and easy to deal with is my wants.

 

Bluetooth earbuds have come a long way. plenty of wireless earbuds fit well under helmets now. The Samsung lives were great for general use, but they didn't sit well in my ears. Fit under my helmet just fine though.

As a follow-up though, I was at the ski shop today at lunch dropping off the planks for a wax and the Skullcandy bros from Park City were in the shop. Got to talking with them and they recommended I try a pair of these:

For $30, seemed like a safe bet and I will say the audio is quite good on them. I'll try them under my helmet when I get home, but they should do well. Even if they don't work, I'm gonna keep them for mowing the lawn, and under my ski helmet and stuff cuz the audio is really good on them, esp for the money. Much better bass notes and lows than other earbuds I've tried. Only downside I've found so far is compared to the airpod sized case thats seemed to be the standard, this charge case is HUGE.

 

My past three street helmets have been HJC, and I have that exact one.

 

has anyone installed the trail tech vapor on a drz before? i got mine on and it works good but its very inaccurate i followed the instructions for getting the proper tire size but it shows almost 15mph off... i also cant seem to get a coolant temp read even thou the sensor is hooked up...
