Comes with a bead of adhesive on the inside. I also ran a heat gun over it after it was installed and gave it a good press to give it a good bite and it held up great on the viper cut and is still holding up great on my fenders. Any good trim would probably suffice, best thing I'd say is to make the cut edge surface as flat and smooth as possible.

 

You can find that stuff locally at Oreilleys. Its the same we use on the bedside cut for HC rear bumper installs.
Works great on the thin sheet metal, not sure it'll expand much for thicker plastic bumper cover.

Also Grainger carries a lot of edge trim/seal products. Their website can be a little clumsy and prices high but usually even if they don't have it at their branch here things usually come the following day on transfer trucks.

 

Even better, should be common stuff. It is a pain to work over the edge since the plastic bumper is a little thicker than what the trims intended for but I feel that's partly why it does a good job cause it's a snug fit with good adhesive. I managed to work it over my bumper and fenders, it sucked doing it but I was happy with the result.

 

I use that stuff on all sorts of things. It makes nice edge guards for the doors, too. Our garage is a little tight and the kids are a little clueless. Definitely helps. Plus I use it to cap sharp edges on sheetmetal stock I have sitting around for various projects. After I opened myself up and bled like a stuck pig, it seemed a wise investment.

Getting back to CA last night was certainly fun. The Yoko’s did great. Bit loud, but whatever, it’s a MT. Nothing a bit of music can’t solve.

There were some spots where I wished I had better fog lights than my SSC1’s. Would also be nice to increase my own visibility to others but I don’t think there’s any street legal options there.

 

I'm interested in the rack but need to figure out a RV rated pivot/extension that'll work on our trailer first.

Not much room to work with and I'm hoping to be able to open the back without removing the bikes and rack...might end up having to put them on top of the trailer instead.

 

Kuat makes a swing out adapter . 300$ though…

 

I've used the autozone stuff folks posted and it works good for about 10 years but now its starting to fail on my taco. On the mule I used this stuff, it is certainly more expensive but it's bomber. I'm going to redo my taco with it:

It's not rated for RV use unfortunately and I think it would interfere with the rear stairs on the trailer.

 

How do you like that trailer? I’ve been casually looking for an offroad camp trailer for me and the wife and kid. We want something that still makes it feel like you’re camping but has heater and some amenities. So many options out now and it’s hard to tell what’s good and what’s shit.

 

installed some locked coilovers today. Put 600lb king springs on them as well. If anyone has been interested in locked let me know, I'll be doing a little review of them

 

Hell yea lookin good. Any reason you went with king springs over the standard ones from locked?

 

Only complaint is the limited dealer network but Patriot is opening their US operations in Las Vegas in April so that should improve. We've had a couple minor issues that I'm hoping will be resolved under warranty.

The trailer is built to be dragged around the Australian Outback and tracks really well behind the Tacoma. The build quality is waaaaay better than the Jayco we used to have.

We have 40+ nights in it since picking it up in Nov 2021. The kitchen layout works well for us. It has a diesel water heater with a heat exchanger for heating the tent but you only get a 10-20° bump in temp in the tent with the heater on so keep that in mind.

Let me know if you have any specific questions. I'd be happy to drag it out and open it up so you can take a closer look...I'm planning on towing it down to Rack2Roam next month to work out options for bike racks...it has been a pain to find something that'll work on the receiver without having to remove bikes and the rack when we set up camp so we could coordinate something then if you'd like.

 

Thanks man! A few reasons, bought these off of marketplace and they had 700lb springs on them. I don't have a bumper or winch so 700 was too much. Also spoke with locked about their springs, the original ones were viper springs and per locked their spring rate is inconsistent so I wanted to swap. 3rd is I was winging it and hoping the blue kings looked good lol either way I was going 600lb but wanted to try kings for a clean look

 

For additional clarification about the springs. This was during a time when locked went into production with a company that screwed them over a bit hence why the springs are inconsistent

 

Has any 3rd gen owner here, build out their bed with shelving, bed platform? Just trying to get more ideas to build out mine.

I’m 35, no kids, no mortgage . I retired from the military 29AUG21, finished my divorce yesterday. It was very painless. Have to build the bed out. Just me and my doggo isis. Life is a revolving door and it’s beautiful. I have thought about doing the “YT” thing, but with no social media that sort of thing doesn’t interest me. I just wanna live like Emerson, or Thoreau. Just need peace in MUH life.
