I added bed stiffeners before I installed my SP. Everything I read seemed to indicate they were needed.
JMO, but you could always try it without, monitoring the dimensions across the tailgate and see if you need them or not?
So far I haven’t seen any indication I needed mine and I have been over some pretty rough roads. Everything seems solid using my RAGO stiffeners.

Thanks! This looks good, but not sure it would be rigid enough. I might give it a try since it's not too expensive for the 35' section.

These look perfect! How much pressure does this take to snap in/out? Right now how I'm thinking of running the wire, it might create a little bit of pressure on the cover.

Anyone in WA want to split this with me? I don't need 4 x 60"

a fist slam will get them on pretty easily. To take off you may need a flat head but pretty easy to get off.

Def sounds like advice. I know of at least one person that had their camper "BOLTED" direct to the bed and it ended up working loose and stretching said holes. The moving liquid is another factor.

In our recent baja trip 2 of the people (1 bed rack and one Sherpa rack (had a sloshing waterport) both cracked. Pretty sure the sherpa was from exactly that. I had not thought bout the liquid factor.

from a safety standpoint, they will say no but plenty of people do it. You could consider a removable swingout or mount the items to your trailer. The Rigd hitch mount ones are solid.

    SP’s reply to my email.
“We have had a customer mount the Expedition Essentials MaxTrax mount to the door of the X1. They just needed to purchase upgraded struts for their door to still open. Nobody has done this to my knowledge with a RotoPax though. Might be a good thing to ask on our user forum: https://community.superpacificusa.com/home

    Hope this helps!”

Not much help, but it eliminates one avenue to check. I put the same question in the link in their response.

Nudavini64, I may start by putting them on my Sherpa roof rack. Did you have any problem with them expanding in the heat?

I mount my 4-gallon roto-fuelpack to the door when I head to Baja. Not super confident in the door holding all that weight but it has been flawless on 2 trips thus far. I only fill it up for the last stretch then immediately dump the fuel in the truck once there is room.

I added the exped essentials maxtrax mount in the SP parking lot after they installed my camper last summer. Drove all over the place on and offroad coming home, its good to go, but it also doesnt move. I used 8 bolts i believe, butyl tape over the holes, lock nuts and washers.

Thanks for the offer! But I placed an order yesterday for them :( Another member in Vancouver WA offered to split some with me.

I'm in Belfair. I think I would only need about 4'-5', but not sure about the other member. I wasn't planning on covering the complete wire run, just enough to hold it in place. Not sure if I could return them.

Any white Tacoma owners go with a blue? Alternatively does anyone wish they rocked a different color choice?

Currently my truck is stock so I’m not committed to any one color yet and was thinking white might be nice for the brightness or blue might be nice for the… blueness.

I've been debating white vs black, and chose black. The white doesn't QUITE match the Toyota Ice Cap. It looks great, but it would drive me nuts. Blue would probably be my second choice after black- nice and clean.

Ah nice! It sounds like that’s what I’m going to do as well after some thought. Did you ever see a blue on white Tacoma setup or just go for it?

speaking of white on white.. got back from some abuse out at KOH recently.. couple things:

Finally made contact with my trimmed Prinsu roof rack and the X1. (It took a lot to get there though.. to the point where I cracked my BAMF rear swingout too. lol)

The original X1 clamps on my 2nd gen (w/ factory plastic bed caps) and my front aluminum bar is still solid. It didn't/hasn't budged, even with the above issues (that's all bed/frame flex). So take that as you will...

Overall, very happy with how it handled. I truly expected the X1 to be the problematic area. After that shakedown, I have faith in it and its longevity for sure.
