So I had a rotted out power steering connection, took it to get repaired instead of stressing about it… and it back fired. The shop couldn’t get my skid plate off due to rusty bolts, so the ripped the thing off. It had some minor rust as well, but now two of the holes are completely torn and twisted. And to top it off they left the stripped bolts anyway.
I picked the truck up and didn’t notice the skid plate in the bed until I got back. Anyway, I can’t find a replacement for the life of me, is there a place to order a skid plate that’s not 500 bucks? Or am I stuck looking for a scraped taco to salvage from?

I don’t know where you’re located, but you can have the factory one off mine. I’m in Colorado and it’s in great shape.

You have a TRD Sport, so only the front skid covering the sway bar area? The two braces that the skid bolts to are removable. Buy from the dealer, salvage yard, or hit up people who have upgraded to aftermarket skids (most designs delete the two braces).

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
The fact the shop did not advise you of the tool catcher issue does not sound good .

Pictures of what your dealing with is always a big help.

That would be an easy thing to fix if you had friends that can fabricate paying someone cheaper to replace with used parts.

You can also get skid plates of a 3rd gen. The 3rd Gen TRD pro skid fits on Gen 2 so they should be the same if you want the thin steel skids. You can also buy the knock off TRD Pro skids on Amazon as they are $250. It seems to have decent reviews. If you have a friend that welds they may be able to weld a washer if possible to your old skids so you can reuse them until you find a replacements.
