Hey all, If you have the ARB portable twin compressor, can you take some pictures of the wiring to the switch? ARB is zero help, all of their wiring diagrams are for using the solenoids or hard wiring them to ignition etc. All of their wiring diagrams also show the switch wiring only having two wires. The compressors have three (purple, red, black). I picked up a twin compressor and ARB cannot help me wire it to a switch like a portable one. Honestly, I'm happy that you can reach a person on their tech line, but at the same time the people I talk to are zero help. Thanks in advance
    Chris

Well you definitely need to use a relay or solenoid. Each half of the compressor needs a 40A fuse. If you try to wire it directly through a switch, you’ll melt it pretty quick.

You are correct, I don't need the power feed side. The power is all done through one harness and the activating is done off of another. I need the activation wiring for the portable twin. Basically the wiring that goes from the black connector to the ARB rocker switch.

(ARB part number 180413) is the wiring but I struggle with sending $16 for 3 wires

Can you post the specific model number of that compressor? The diagram I’ve found only shows the black and purple wires but no red so I want to make sure I’m looking at the right one

From the diagram I'm looking at, it SEEMS like Black is ground, purple is 12v+, and red is unused

Red MAY provide a 12v source from the compressor itself? Not sure on that one.

The diagram in the installation manual is assuming you are using it for lockers, so it shows the diagram for 3 switches and two air solenoids.

If you just want to be able to turn it on and off, you just power up the purple wire and you’re all set. The black wire doesn’t even actually need to be grounded. It just provides a ground to the switches for their light circuit

The ARB documentation is pretty damn good. All the info you need is there. 12V on purple will trigger the relays and power on the compressors.

What is throwing me is that red wire. I have not seen anything with the red wire shown.
