Ah, but does it have an agitator? Is it a top load? Does it ‘save’ water? Is it “Energy efficient”? These new mandated features in washers are crappola.

Mechanical up top. NOT an Energy Star Model. No bother to me. I learned all those requirements at work.
The leaking GE was an Energy Star. Gas heats our hot water - hard to make that much more efficient.

We've moved a LOT. Utah, Arkansas, Nevada, back to Utah, and several homes in each state. When we were young, in our first ($15K) home and not making any money, we fell into a used Maytag that served us well but when we moved we didn't want to lug it with us. So we sold it for what we'd paid for it. When we got to the next house we looked for another used Maytag because why mess with success? So we've done that in every home we've lived in if there was too much distance involved to keep the washing machine. Buy a Maytag, use it, take care of it, don't break it, and sell it for what we paid for it. When we got back to Utah (almost 14 years ago now), this last house, we were walking through the local Home Depot and there was a spanking new Maytag set on sale for $500 bucks. We'd been hearing a lot from friends and relatives over the years about the fancy frontloaders they'd buy... and how they were so proud of them and the high prices ($4k+) they paid... and how they had all kinds of problems with them and ended up disgusted and wishing they'd never purchased the high dollar garbage. So we bought the $500 machines that looked pretty much the same as the used ones we'd always owned... our first brand new Maytags.

    Almost 14 years... no regrets.

For years, we bought used stuff repaired by a nice old guy in Austin. Then, rebuilt by a small company in San Marcos.
My wife still lives in those days. I have other things to do. So, a good best selling model, and 5 years from nearby Lowes in warranty.

Never had to repair a washing machine we bought used. We had one dryer that seemed to be a lemon, not sure of the brand, and one brand new GE fridge that needed four compressors in two years and it was a nightmare every time to get it warrantied. We ended up asking for a new fridge when the fourth compressor went out and they ended up charging us the shipping on a smaller fridge (which never gave us problems) to replace it. I don't buy GE anymore.

The only GE appliance left is the (semi-hated) refrigerator. BUT, it was the only one that would fit a size pre-determined in the 1970s. It eats parts, but at least I can replace them, and they are cheap. I'm looking (part time) to replace that sucker.
Wife tried to find the "local old guy" who fixed things like washers. He gave it up too. Most have passed. Like you won't find a mower repair shop anymore either.
I don't mind working on "investment" appliances like the truck. I know when to pay, or try myself. The washer used up my limits of being tipped over for inspection twice, with nothing found. Until it leaks again. Gone.

    Not a drip.
Soak the floor, and wall. I dislike black mold.
Fan drying everything for second day.
And, there WAS a pan under it. Not ANY water would go into that freaking pan.

On an edible note, I am fixing to reverse sear the heck out of a huge Rib-Eye for us, with a baked potato, and wedge salad. Simple. Plenty of it!

Had to steal this @lynyrd3 . This is mostly for @CTSpruceMica Dennis. The SunJoe lawn tool.
Amazon.com : Sun Joe AJ805E 15-Inch 13-Amp Electric Dethatcher and Scarifier w/Removeable 13.2-Gal Collection Bag, 5-Position Height Adjustment, Airboost Technology Increases Lawn Health, Green : Patio, Lawn & Garden

Would I buy it again? Keep it? Yeah, with some grains of salt. And your yard is going to be a lot like a Michigan yard (blade grass) I grew up with, more than the St. Augustine I have here.

I thought I would use the verticutter first. Wrong. I tried dethatch, before I cut blades off the verticutter. - they are too close together for St. Augustine. And you saw what I did in the back. Wife was thrilled - I will be putting a dozen bags of top soil over those poor runners. At its HIGHEST setting - close to too rough on the SHORT grass out back. Lesson proved in the front, where the grass was nearing regular mowing height.

So, in the front - the pictures are counter intuitive - I ran the dethatch through the grass WITHOUT its pickup bag, left the piles, then mowed to the winter / spring height. So, smaller cut, two bags. AND, I removed the green new growth. Mower will be set up higher next mow, at regular height. Here we go....

    20230303_154329.jpg
    20230303_162604.jpg

Looks worse - because I removed the green top. Looks BETTER here, because stuff is out of the way. I sharpened the heck out of the mower, and it scattered as much as it picked up, but I can see the soil, and that's the point. I use a liquid Aereator, and I learned that NEXT YEAR, I will not touch the back until it's grown out.

Will I use the verticutter? Prolly, when things grow, and I cut blades off. That's for aeration. So, cutting a few stolons along the way probably won't matter as much when things establish themselves.

Will I keep it? YES, because this beats the rake hands down.

Will it work on Northern grasses? I am certain that with careful adjustment of what you pull out. it will work just fine. And you can aerate with the verticutter a lot easier than I.

Any questions, just let me know!

OK, St Augustine grass. I’m confused. I’m a California boy, born and raised here. When I was 12, my parents planted St Augustine in small clumps in the backyard. It took off like wildfire, filled in quickly, and in a few short years, was thick and cushy as a mattress. You couldn’t find the dirt underneath it was so thick, and of course, no weeds could take root without dirt. It was indestructible, impenetrable, green in summer, brownish in winter. My parents sold that house while I was in the Navy, it was torn down and a large apartment house stands there today.
Now the puzzle: Nobody here ever heard of St Augustine grass, and the experts claim it only grows in the South. So what was it if it wasn’t St Augustine?

    Morning all:

Sounds like us Bill, sit in the truck and a coyote crosses the road 20 yds. away, sit on stand for archery hunting and we see them, go ice fishing at night and have one on shore barking at us, but when we try to hunt them we can't get any, hope you have better luck next time.
Any size to the sheds you found, Illinois has some big racked buck.
