Is this gear oil appropriate for both front / rear differentials and for the transfer case?

Is it the “appropriate” fluid? That’s is debatable.
And it won’t be long before it’s debated in this thread.

If it were my truck, I would have no problems running it in all 3.
Don’t over think it, it’s a Tacoma. It’s nothing special that needs specialized fluids:thumbsup:

    Well said.

Any 75W-90 gear oil will work just fine in all 3 locations. However I always like to offer this advice when someone asks this question. ECGS recommends Lucas dino 85w140 / 80W-90 for extreme cold climates in all of their applications. Which is what I run in my diffs and T-case.

Changed all drain plugs to Dimple Magnetic plugs UNI filter on air pump
I use the mobile one 7590 LS synthetic and the front differential the transfer case and the rear differential no problems and 77,000 miles and I'm going to change it as soon as the weather warms up and I'm going to use the same product over again

As long as you change it out on time or ahead of schedule depending on use/years i really don't think it matters what synthetic you use. I change mine out about every 15,000 miles (7 years.)

yeah it doesnt mater what fluid you get, put 75w-90 gear oil, conventional, synthetic, blend. Just make sure to change it regularly (I do my rear diff every 30k and front n tcase every 60).

The only thing that really matters if if you are an 08 or older with the mechanical clutchpack LSD in the rear, they can be a little picky.

If you get the valvoline in the quart bags it makes it super easy to sqeeze it in.

I just used the Valvoline in my front diff and transfer case. Used the “bags” so it was super easy to fill. I was going to buy the Mobil 1 (like I did for rear diff a few months ago, but it’s not available anywhere near me that I could find. I just did it yesterday so we’ll see but so far so good lol.

I sure hope it’s the appropriate fluid for front/rear diff and TC. It’s what I use!
