Thanks for the info. We're still down in Phoenix so I signed us up for class at Ben Avery. That way we can get some controlled environment stress relief after class as well. :D

I'm heading out towards Canyon Lake and Tortilla Flats for the weekend, leaving here in a few hours.

Probably busier than you may want, with your trailer, but there are plenty of places to get tucked away.

Topic for the day, Has anyone done any work on tacoma valves? Adjustments, Replacements? My exhaust guy and I are trouble shooting an angry noise/rattle on my truck. I know he knows his job well enough to ask the question here. He has duplicated my system on other Tacomas without any issues. I have done the rear cat delete and added a resonator(typo) to help with back pressure and overall sanity noise. No leaks in any of the pipe, gaskets are all in place. Headers seem normal, normal Taco tick. We pull a Stethoscope out and gave the entire systema listen and without know the proper valve lable/number, the front driver valve is noisy as hell compares to the rest.
Question is how difficult is it to do an adjustment or even replace parts? I'll do my own diligent research, but figured id ask the crowd? Thoughs comments? Thanks

Anybody replace a spiral cable assembly on a 2014? Electrical stuff makes me nervous but if it's fairly easy I may take a shot at it. I assume this is the issue as my cruise control is getting a little finicky.

Should be the same as mine (2009). Disconnect battery.. unbolt airbag.. cant remember the size socket to take the steering wheel nut off, remove said nut/steering wheel, disconnect plugs and remove spiral cable.. reverse for installation. just be mindful of the clips on the plugs and also which one is which. Another indication of it going bad is an intermittent or non working horn or steering wheel controls.

I need to do this as well. Any reason not to get the one from the dealer?

This. Just make sure to mark the wheel so it goes back on straight.

I went with dealer on mine. The cheaper ones don't last very long from what I've seen. Sometimes people get lucky.

Pretty much. I've replaced mine with Ebay Toyota ones (~50-60 bucks).. and they seem to last at least a year.. the last one I swapped in is still going strong.. only had to replace it twice over the course of like 5 years or so since the OEM died.

On my new-to-me '12 I sure did, a few times. First replacement spring had a problem, got to rinse and repeat to troubleshoot, then replace it. Proceed as above, esp the clips/plugs advice, here are a few tips.

Make sure your wheels are straight and steering wheel is, too. The last time, I was a little sloppy so my wheel isn't perfectly straight.

After *only* loosening the steering wheel bolt, use your knees to apply a little upward pressure on it and pull to "break" it loose. You risk facial injuries if you don't, it might take some force to pull it. I didn't get a special tool to pull it, some folks do. Once it's loose, proceed.

While I was in there the last time, I used contact cleaner on the steering wheel controls and CC contacts. A touch of dielectric grease made subsequent work much easier, and my dirty controls all work like new. Did some serious dusting, too, everything was filthy. Take pictures of before and after, I had to provide a few showing my install work to get the first (defective) clock spring replaced. Not hard, just time consuming to repeat it all.

PS, so far the sway bar delete has been exciting. I really need to toss in the heavy springs. Body roll like a mofo and gets a good pucker with the new tilt/roll feeling off road.
Dumb question, Why do i have more body roll with my 6112 on 650, than another taco with Old man Emu Bp51? Just curious..

My guess is because the OME BP51 springs are a little beefier + I have my compression and rebound tuned pretty stiff

I haven't bought the part yet but I'll take you up on that. I'm booked for the next 2 weekends though. What does 4/8 or 4/9 look like for you?
