I wasn't able to find anyone that had done this before, so here's my take on installing the Midland MXT275 GMRS radio. Started looking at mounting locations and couldn't find one that still had access to the speaker on the main unit but also mounted it out of plain sight. I'd always thought it was silly to have two sunglass holders, so I dug into the overhead console. Turns out the MXT 275 fits pretty nice in the forward bay. Took the console out and started cutting...

The radio is held in with some mounting tape and 3d printed retainers on the sides. I also wanted to use the stock sunglass holder to cover it up, so I cut a hole centered on the speaker and printed out a little bezel to clean things up. Not perfect but good enough!

It was a bit tricky to get all the cables hooked up and through the hole but I eventually pushed hard enough and everything popped into place. The finished product:

I have yet to route all cables and test everything out, but the difficult bit is done. The plan is to run the ethernet extension cable somewhere in the center console and have a jack there for the handheld mic. The antenna will likely go opposite the FM antenna near the hood/windshield on the left side.

    That’s pretty cool.
I don’t use my sunglasses holder either.
I can’t remember the last time I ever opened it?

Thanks! Yeah I don't remember using mine much. Would be cool to come up with something for the second slot. I saw Meso customs has some inserts for switches but it looked like they aren't really available anymore.

thats clean. I ended up installing two small speakers in that same spot which connects to my HAM radio mounted in the glove box and have the faceplate "semi removable" from the roof as its held on with a magnet under the headliner (would need to loosen the nut holding the face to the magnet). If my HAM radio would fit there, i would totally re-do my install to match yours.
