The background in this looks VERY familiar to me and is in the same exact location that I think this building is. I will PM you.

 

Any painted wheel will have these problems unless you do two things, buy monoblock, professionally powdercoated wheels like Advans, and….never go offroad.

I learned the hard way. Bought a $1000 set of wheels and thought i’d be able to keep them nice. Drove through an alley on week one and a rock caught the edge of my tire and slapped the wheel:

Its been years since I arranged an actual meet up there. We used to do 3-5 a year.

As much as I wanted to take the Taco into DC when I took the GF to the Kaiser hospital in Capitol Hill, the parking garage would have caused me even more anxiety. Her little ferd Focus was the perfect car for driving around the city and parking in the underground garage. My back was killing me afterwards, I wouldn't want a small car for a road trip but for a city beater it would be ideal.

I'm trying to get a pic of my buddies 3rd gen for you- he has gone the full route of OME suspension and regearing to run 35's. I know that the front CV's snap like dry rotted pretzels anytime it gets buried and he tries to power out of it. 4.88 gears is what it took to get it moving like "stock". The front body seams were smashed over, then he had one of his guys delete the seam and make it into a lap joint. Lots of other challenges along the way to fit and run 35's. I know last year the front diffy didn't feel like playing anymore and left him stranded at Rausch Creek. Things to consider if you want to DD a 3rd gen with big tires.

I'd like to participate in some sort of meet up. I can bring the T4R or the Taco, I'm just not into destroying paint with tree branches or getting buried in water or mud. I enjoy a good trail ride.
