GL 5 gear oil

Hey folks I really appreciate you all helping me with my questions and I have another one!

Dose anybody have experience with Valvoline or Ultralub 75W90 gear lubricant in their 2and gen taco? Good or bad??

I used Valvoline 80w-90 in my differentials. Just the standard non-synthetic.
I didn’t have any issues.

Most guys use

$30 75w-90 Synthetic Gear Lube - 1 Quart (Pack of 2)

75w-90 and have no problems at all.

 

It's just gear oil. If it's there=good, if it's not there= bad.

Just changing it is worlds better than worrying about what is the best.

Good advice in the posts above. I use Mobil 1 synthetic 75W90 in all three boxes, but anything that meets your specs will do fine.

 

I use Mobil 1 also with no problems. You can get it at Walmart and it’s easy on the wallet.

 

For me the real key is how the truck is used

Abused? Syn at 1/2 prescribed intervals

Worked hard? (not same as high miles) change at 1/2 prescribed intervals using dino, or on prescribed intervals using syn.

Pavement cruiser, prescribed intervals with dino, extended intervals with syn.

GL5 75/90 in any brand on the shelf on sale. No need for boutique products.

Reference: my street class SCCA solo II car with torsen diff, worked hard on technical auto x courses and HPDE tracks. Products tribologist verified as being 'healthy'. No broken parts.

 

Use Valvoline synthetic in the squeeze bags.

not because Valvoline is better or anything, but because the squeeze bags make it an unbelievably easy fluid change. Worth the money.
