If you’re expecting a delivery in this “ice” please be patient because although the main roads are clear, the side streets, driveways, and paths to front doors are an s-show..

Well Folks all most time for another Canadian Invasion....This is posted over in the Ontario side under Silver Lake Dunes 2023
    As posted.......

Loose Schedule...starting July 30th as I don't think the first park is open on weekdays...anyways here we go.

July 30th Holy Oaks ORV Park
Little mix of everything mud/rock/sand/trails scramble areas and a track.
    Overnight in Grand Blanc/Flint area.
2.5 hrs from my house depending on the border.

    July 31st Rocks&Valleys ORV
Never been but gets pretty good reviews.
    Overnight in Clare
    1.5 hours from Flint

    Aug1st Trails Baldwin/White Cloud area
Just waiting for trail info from a local FB group in the area.
1 hr from Clare depending on trail entry point.
    Overnight in Heart?

This is where we might call an audible.
Depending on the trail entry/exit points and how long we want to spend in the bush...we can either head for Ludington and do that the next day or head for Hart and do Silver Lake Dunes.

Aug 2nd Silver Lake Dunes or Ludington.
They are 30 mins apart.... so we either go North or head South!!!

Aug 3rd which ever we don't do on the 2nd...lol

All the ORV parks require a front mounted flag as well as the dunes...the trails I'm not so sure but can confirm.
You will require both an ORV permit and a trail pass for all of the spots we visit, which will cost about 38 bucks USD.
You will also require a Non-Resident Passport to access any State Park trailheads and Parking/staging lots which is about 36 bucks USD.
The beauty of it is they are ALL good till March of the following year, so you can access anytime, not just for this trip...ie the permits/passport I bought last summer expire the end of March 2023.
You can purchase all you need from the links I posted and the DNR will mail them to you...very easy process.

I will update as soon as I can confirm the trail info I am waiting for.

Let me know if any of you Michiganders can join in!!!
    Cheers
    Rich

I would like to join for a day or so if my schedule allows for it. I most likely won’t know until week off though.

EDIT: Also, since you’re coming back I guess that means you enjoyed yourself last year :D

Also please keep an eye on Rocks & Valleys. As of right now they are closed until further notice.

Unfortunately the schedule is the schedule...with the odd option but the dates are solid.
Thanks for the heads up...I'll keep my eye on Rocks & Valleys...July is a ways away so lets hope for the best!

No... they are closed until further notice. It was posted on their social media a week or so ago. They are having trouble finding insurance for the park.

I guess they should update the website. I'll be in that area in June and was planning on trying to get there.

Lake County (Baldwin) has the most ORV trails in the state. Not sure what info you're looking for specifically, but there's a US Forest Service office right in town and a DNR office north of town. We got some maps from the USFS last year when we were looking to cut a Christmas Tree on federal land. Lots of forest roads in the area.
