Can anyone lead me to the right forum or post on here any beginner rated trails? I live out in Avondale and haven't been out much to test my 4wd. Thanks !

This book had green/blue/red rated trails. 100 trails actually. You could do worse than spend $40 on it. Toyota dealerships sometimes have them, offroad shops, etc. Not the same as people who take you there, but ...

    https://funtreks.com/product/guide-to-arizona-backroads-4-wheel-drive-trails-3rd-edition/

For less stressful ones ... these directions since you are in Avondale already ...

West on I-10 to exit 109 (one exit west of 85)
South 5 miles to Palo Verde
West onto Old US 80, south past Arlington
West on Agua Caliente Rd for 5 miles
Sount on thatunnamed road and head towards Woolsey Peak. Just do not be surprised if you see cows (not joking)

    And some 2WD/4Hi/4Lo advice: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/3rd-gen-traction-control-modes-explained.530695/

And some advice (from another thread about 4WD in snow ...)

4WD is designed for low traction conditions and slower speeds. On high-traction roads at high speeds, all wheels/tires are driven at the same speed but outer wheels (relative to the turn) move faster and strain the transfer case and differentials to try to keep balance.

I’m in Phx and always down to ride! Have several books and maps for Az/Utah if you ever want to get on the road!

Four Peaks can get busy on a weekend, and with the twisty uphills backing down to make way for the downhill traffic probable. But that is just my experience.

My guess is "easy and close" will be "packed" as well on weekend or otherwise "everyone is off work" days.

I've never experienced that there I guess I've been lucky. That would suck for sure.

Weekday wheeling for the win !!

That book is great! I’ve been crushing through it…. There is a ton of fire roads up north that lead to some good day trips…Enjoy

It is pretty easy. I took my truck up a few years ago and it's RWD. no issues but it was a fun drive.

There is a California version of the book that’s really good too, was going to get the AZ version because the book has some good detail.

I going to get an app-based mapping system at point, I think OnX is the one that looks the best to me, but not too sure yet.

None yet - 1 week old.
If anyone from this thread heads up to the Sedona area and wants to connect for some light to moderate off-road let me know. I'm always game if I'm around.
