I would be glad to do that for you, but I’m afraid snow will be all melted away before I could get there.

I always try and keep a couple filters around. I pick up Mobil 1 at WalMart whenever there is any price drops or rebates available. Makes it pretty straightforward. I need 6 qts and wife needs 5. We both come due about once a year, so it works out. I keep the basic washers around to match. I got spoiled with my Hondas, as the local dealer taped a washer to every filter and included with purchase. I’m sure it also reminded the mechanics to replace as well. It’s where I also learned of wiper blade refills.

I use Kendall L-427 Super Blu on everything and have since I was riding a bicycle to the parts store.

This is actually counter to my normal procedure of researching things into the ground.

Back when I was riding said bicycle I needed wheel bearing grease for my Mothers car - front drum brakes you know - walked into the parts store and said "I need some grease".

The old fellow behind the counter asked what kind so I said "I don't know, the best one I guess". He handed me the Kendall and all these years later I still use it. :notsure:
I used it at the old job too.

But I have to work. It’s pool opening season. I’m not able to leave until they are all open.

That’s pretty impressive distance to drive in one day.

    Spring service, day 2

Todays project was a coolant change, I bought the genuine Toyota, $27/gallon.

To drain the block on old engines there was usually a pipe plug to try to remove.

Toyota included this handy dandy valve on the passenger side.

    KIMG2969.jpg

It lurks behind the this splash shield after you remove the wheel.

    KIMG2972.jpg

Remove the top plastic snap -- it took 15 minutes to find the trim tool set...
A 10 MM socket and a long extension is all that is needed.

    KIMG2971.jpg

I had this 5/16 hose around that slipped neatly on the drain nipple, it fit the radiator drain too.

    KIMG2973.jpg

I left it draining and got a bite to eat, it drained while I filled you could say.

I tested the new coolant, it came out to 51%, I have a real nice tester called a Refractometer, you put a drop of the fluid on a window in the front and hold it to the light like a telescope.

It shows a scale with the percentage and freeze point.

    KIMG2974.jpg

Toyota did a nice job on this, easy and clean. I didn't spill a drop.
