Hi there - I'm looking to install some halogen fog lights on my 2014 Toyota Tacoma. Currently I have none installed. I want to stick with halogen since my headlights are stock Toyota halogen lights. Anyone have any recommendations on the best halogen fog lights on the market? Any info is appreciated. Thanks!

I believe the pre-2019 model year fogs are going to be your best bet. The '20 and later model years use a much lower output, poorer focus H16 type bulb, for which there are no good upgrade options, as opposed to the earlier gens which use an H11 bulb. Is your truck already wired from the fusebox to the fog location, and do you have the appropriate switchstalk (I'm assuming yours wasn't already equipped)

Thanks for the reply. So you suggest just the Toyota stock fog lights pre-2019? I don't think my truck is already wired from the fusebox to the fog location. I would also assume that I do not have the appropriate switchstalk.

The stock 12-15 fogs will be best, they are H11 wide-cornering units, higher output than many aftermarket performance LED units. From there swap to Tungsram Platinum bulbs for even better output. 16-19 H11 fogs could possibly work too, though the mounting is slightly different, so I’d stick to the 12-15 units. There are detailed threads with how to add fogs to a non-OEM equipped fog truck, though I don’t have links at hand.

OP, did you check the small box next to main fuse/relay box?

Check for the wiring tucked up/zip tied under the bumper. My parent's 2010 did not come with fogs, but it has the wiring from the fuse box to the fog location, as did my '99 4runner. If that is present, it should be a job of switching the switch stalk for a the one that includes fog switching, and then installing the appropriate relay and duse in the fuse box.

Fog switch goes in the dash, so connector to missing switch is most likely taped/tucked away next to other switches harness on driver's side.

You are going to need a complete wiring harness and switch. I can't personally vouch for it, but the reviews are all very good and it looks like it has an OEM style switch for a clean install.

I will disagree with one of the previous posts. I thought the OEM Fog lights were terrible even when properly aimed. I upgraded about 10 years ago to the Morimoto XB LED Tacoma Fog lights and they were much better/brighter. I have heard the new Diode Dynamics Elites are even better/brighter and probably the best.

This is inaccurate. The OEM fogs use 1250 lumen H11 bulbs, the Morimotos don't even produce that in raw LED output ratings much less actual. The Morimoto XBs are so dated and no match for Toyotas OEM H11 halogen fogs. See output tables below, which mirror my own testing. Toyotas H11 fogs beat Motimoto in peak intensity, spread and height, aka every important performance metric.

Diode Dynamics Elites are certainly superior, though the OP was asking specifically about halogens. While the Elites are great fogs they will lack the heat output to melt snow if that is a concern. Even when pairing with halogens, if snow melt is not a concern it would be worth considering the Elites in selective yellow to pair with the OEM halogen headlamps.

I have to agree with crash here. I too went from OEM halogens in my 2014 Tacoma to the Morimoto XB's - and was very disappointed with the output. Then one, then the other failed due to corrosion in less than 2 years. Although they were promptly replaced under warranty, it was time to bail. (I now run Diode Dynamics SS3 Max fogs.) The OEM halogens with the above mentioned bulb upgrade should be just fine for the OP.

I went back and looked, these are the LED fog lights I have. Ever heard of them?

I have heard of them, yes. I have not personally tried the ESUSE version of that product. They were one of the first widely available aftermarket SAE LED fogs on the market, preceding the Morimoto branded fogs. I believe Morimoto partnered with ESUSE to have them white label brand their ESUSE fogs as Morimotos. Aka the products are actually the same product. In comparison to current modern products, the Morimoto/ESUSE fogs are very dated. The products have a good pattern and cut off, but output intensity is much lower than the competition.
