Well, I got a new clutch put in my 96 2.7. The original finally gave up. I went with the aisin kit with their bearings, a new luk flywheel, new oem fork and some other parts like rear main. Been super busy with work and a new born so decided to have a local mechanic who is also a friend do it for me. He’s a good mechanic so I’m sure everything was done right. Now I have a squeal (cricket) like noise upon startup after it’s sat for awhile. Doesn’t last too long but is incredibly annoying as I like things to be “right”. If I barely rest my foot on the clutch pedal it goes away. If I crawl under and wiggle the fork it gets worse/better. After a short drive it goes away until it sits for a bit. I greased behind the fork and no difference. I’m thinking maybe TO bearing noise? Maybe a stiffer spring in the slave cylinder? Should a be concerned? It’s all brand new. Is there a fix? Any ideas or people who have had this issue. Thanks.

    Sounds like TO bearing possibly,
I had an Aisin TO bearing that went south after a year, typically they last longer,
Use an stethoscope to narrow it down

    OP,
The T/O bearing in the AISIN CKT-040 clutch kit I put in my V6 Taco last summer was an NSK JAPAN bearing, same as the original OEM Toyota T/O bearing it replaced. That is one of if not THE top-shelf JAPAN T/O bearing for the V6. Mine is quiet and super smooth. And same as you, I went with a new LUK flywheel and new OEM fork. Sure sounds to me like you did it right. Good luck with your problem.

Thanks guys. This is frustrating. Everything is brand new and I really don’t want to drop the transmission again. It’s when the rig has sat for a period of time and only makes noise for 5-30 seconds then goes away. And only when the clutch is fully disengaged. If I depress it at all, even just the weight of my foot it disappears. It does sound like the TO bearing to me. It was also a Japan bearing and I’m sure was done right.
