I've owned one cheap Chinese radio and vowed never to do it again. Terrible issues, sound quality and false advertising.

Some do ok, but it's the last place I'd cheap out on, it's the center piece of the interior.

I suggest alpine and pioneer all time on here. I've never had an issue with either, and many report better satisfaction on here.

This is what I have right now and wouldnt trade it for anything but a bigger screen same brand.

What someone else is willing to put up with might drive you mad. I’ve seen these Chinese radios around for a while now, and the results, through my independent testing, is a 50/50 rate if acceptance. I’ve owned a Kenwood for about 5 years, and 5 cold Canadian winters, and not one hiccup.

in my experience, it comes down to that your level of acceptance is.

if all you listen to is bluetooth, and only use the volume to turn it up/down, they do awesome, besides some bootup issues with some units. but as soon as you start going into any sort of more complex features like am/fm, youtube, android capabilities, or even start adjusting sound options, the units generally start falling flatter the more you ask of them.

    I mean doe
I mean for me, it's being able to mirror my phone(satellite radio, Use maps, my Amazon music, etc) and answer and make calls normal stuff. But I also don't want to blow like $1000 on a stereo that I'm only really using to make driving easier.

Now.im also not a 17yo kid rolling to school.with a over powered 15s and a massive Amp that is powering everything

the biggest issue with any of these units is that they were built to the low price, which usually means from lumping together existing random software packages in a 'lego' sort of way.

many times the functions will work, but break other things in the process because the stuff they're using was never intended to be used the way they're using it, together with the other function software they're using. this is why if you only minimally use it, it will work perfectly fine. but correctly mirroring your phone, getting maps to display, and using it for call answering are all highly software-complex operations.

the higher end '$1k' units are going to have more time and effort dedicated into the software that it runs it, and will have miles-better integration to all of the functions, which will enable it to work as intended, as well as the processing power required to use those functions--another downside to the cheap android units is lower-than-required processing power...

Don't expect any tech support with those Chinese Android headunits. They will send you very basic documentation with the unit and if something doesn't work, you'll be on your own to sort it out. Usually you get what you pay for. I just installed an ATOTO S8 in a friend's car and it seems to work well (fingers crossed). We did find some plug and play wiring for it: https://www.autoharnesshouse.com/AHH-70-1761ATOTO.html

i have one in a 2007 double cab
it has wireless apple car play and android auto
car play works good and the speakers sounds better vs the stock headunit
only complaint is apple carplay takes a little while for it to connect sometimes, maybe a 1 or 2 min but thats it
