    Hey all,

New to the forum and looking to become a Tacoma owner soon! I wanted to see what you all thought about a price of 40k OTD for a 2023 sr5, 4x4 with a 6ft bed and the $~500 technology package as the only option, located in FL. It isn't really the exterior or interior color I'd want but I think I can live with it. I can get ~3% APR. Looking to pull the trigger in the next few days but having a hard time deciding and figured this is probably the best place to ask!

These trucks have gotten so damn expensive… I guess everything is expensive these days….. and let’s not talk about housing interest rates………….. I am stuck with my current cars and my current home…

Well, actually it's a good deal. If I were you, I would take it.

In May 2021, I paid MSRP $38,803 for my Sport with just floor mats & door sills.

Before that purchase, we refinanced our home. Talk about good timing!

OP, sounds like the consensus is that you’re getting a great deal.

    Get what your heart desires.

Seems like a fair deal, but I think you can ask them to sweeten the deal by adding in something without the price changing since you don't like the colors. Ex. running board, rim or tire upgrade, tailgate lock?

I'd wait if the colors are borderline what you want. No point in spending that kind of money and BORROWED money if you're at all hesitant about the color. Getting a new car is sweet; taking a loan out shouldn't be celebrated IMO. (unless you can make that interest back investing)

For comparison from NC (part of SET), I paid ~42.3 OTD in January 2023. SR5 DCSB 4X4, with BSM, Parking Sonar, Navi, and Predator steps as the only options. Yea no mats and thankfully no toyotaguard. SETF is running 2.75% APR on tacomas right now.

i think that is a fair price and if i were looking to buy and could live with the color, i would buy it.

Sounds like a good deal if that is the out the door price.

My 2021 SR5 4x4 Access Cab was 38k out the door,... tag/tax/title all the dealer added on b.s. I didn't need.
I almost had kittens that night but now I'm happy with it.

Almost refinanced that year too but I was already at a decently low rate and it would take about 3-years to make it worthwhile
so I just stayed where I was. I think a lot of us wouldn't dream of selling now. But you have to remember, you get married to
your house, but you date-the-rate.... rates will eventually go down again.... but I'll probably have the house payed off by then.

My advice to anyone starting out: don't buy a new vehicle, save your pennies, wait for the next dip.

For comparison purposes, I just picked up a TRD OR manual pretty striped with no pkg's but has $1300 of PIO(port installed options) MRSP $39,737 got $1000 off and OTD $41,xxx. The 3% APR you can get is good. Is that for 36 months? The best I could get was 4.9% for 60. Good luck with your deal!

I don't know, I wouldn't settle, that's a pretty high price IMO and it's not even a color you would be happy with.
I would wait for prices to come down a bit, it's pretty ridiculous right now.

2.75/36mo or 3.75/60mo. I've been looking for a while and don't feel that this is a 'steal' but is a fairly fair deal? I am a little hesitant thinking prices will come down a bit but at the end of the day, even if I save ~2k if I wait a few months I think I would rather get the truck use this summer.

IMO nowadays if there's no dealer markup and no silly mandatory dealership add-ons added then the price is fair.

Exactly! No bullshit extras(paint protection, window etching, tire protection, etc) If you can get a straight up deal with just doc fees+ TTL then it's not a bad deal. I refused to buy the extended warranty as well. The Finance guy didn't push back at all really and if he did I was going to show him the pricing that you can buy one from the salesman provided on a thread on this forum.

Plus if you want some of these extras, yourself or an independent shop would probably do a better job. Like my friend and I applied ceramic coat on my truck ourselves with better coating than what one dealership tried to sell me. Makes for some good bro bonding as well. Also got an independent shop to apply window tint on my truck, probably a better job than the dealer.

Are you talking about a double cab 6 ft bed or the extended cab?

If you wait too long you may be stuck with a GEN-4 if you want new or someone else's good-used Gen3.

Best deal in the world? Probably not.
But there are many like it that will sell for more. Thousands more.

If you pull the trigger on this one you can rightfully say:
    This is my truck.
There are many like it but this one is mine.
My truck is my best friend. It is my life. I must master it as I master my life.
My truck, without me is useless. Without my truck I am useless. I must master my truck true.

(ps: i mean no disrespect to the marines out there who bust their azzez every day keeping my azz safe)
