I was pretty damn confident that the manual Taco was dead.

Nice work, Toyota. They're killing it with manual enthusiast cars lately.

Figures, after 3 days after I bought a Taco thinking next gen would lose the manual, they finally come out with this teaser.
Oh well, it's going to take 1-2 years to stabilize the platform. Anyway, hooray!

I think this is a good indication that manufacturers still listen to the customers. And imo, should give the "ICE is dead" crowd hope. I've said it for a long time. If everyone throws up their hands and takes it in the ass from big government and manufacturers, they'll get what they're given. if they're vocal about what they actually want, it will drive production.

So since manual transmissions are cheaper then automatic - will Toyota offer the Tacoma in manual at a lower price than other styles/trims?

I know the manual will be "optional" but will it drop overall price versus automatic?

Currently the Manual is less expensive, but who knows what to expect for 2024.

I could see them making it more expensive.

For example, Looking up to build a Supra, the 3.0 Premium (highest grade) has a starting price of $56,750. The A91-MT has a starting price of $59,445

scratch that. the 3.0 Prem has the manual option. the auto is 56750, the manual shows as 59040. this is with no add ons. the one thing I see different is the MT has to include the driver assist for 1200. still not sure why it comes up to 2500 difference.

    This is excellent news!

I wonder if they will keep it an option for the same trim levels. SRS, Sport and TRD OR

It hasn't been available in the SR5 since back in 2015.

They killed those after the 2000 model year, I highly doubt it will make a comeback. Maybe if they bring back the FJ or something similar

Okay now Toyota needs a top trim Tacoma GR with huge tires, three pedals, wide body and 400 hp.

I can't think of a single manufacturer that isn't at least matching manual and automatic prices at this point. It's crap, but automakers are trying to make up for lower take rates in an "invisible" way. Kind of is what it is at this point.

feel like an absolute idiot buying a 2023 manual now thinking there would be no way possible of them bringing it to the 4th gen. this 3rd gen is terrible. extremely disappointed in it in just about every way

that's a bummer you don't like the 3rd gen. At least you won't have any issue selling it

Hopefully it’s not only available the first year or two. I’m hoping to hit double digit ownership years on my 2016 before I consider upgrading.

I’ll have to keep my ear to the ground on this one.

I totally goofed when I proudly proclaimed numerous times on Tacomaworld that 4th gen would lose manual and get it while you can on 3rd gen.

However, I still believe it's not going to be offered on the iForce Max powertrain because gas engine would shut down in those. That would mean there's no manual TRD Pro (assuming all Pros are iForce Max). I hope Toyota can prove me wrong and make manual a top trim option or all trim option

The Honda Insight and Honda CRZ were Manual Hybrids so it can be done, however l agree that it's very doubtful on the Tacoma.
