My horn works, then it doesn't, then when I go to think about fixing it, voila it works again and I forget about it again..

Yesterday I needed it, it failed.

I have done some reading on this and suspect the clock spring, but am having no other symptoms besides the horn not working; eg. the steering wheel buttons acting up etc..

Nothing else seems to be wrong - so I am just wondering if there is something I am missing OR is it a matter of time till one of the other symptoms occurs..

Hold the horn button while turning the steering wheel, if it stops working intermittently while doing so then it's most likely the Spiral Cable (Clock Spring).

Clock spring. Easy to change but you need to remove the air bag. Original is pricy. I run a 50$ clock spring bought on Amazon since 2021, no problem so far.

I haven't tried turning the wheel and trying to use the horn - each time my wheels were straight; push and it works, then a few days later do the same and no noise..

I'll try turning the wheel this afternoon and see - I'm sure it will work now, in my driveway, since I don't need it..

Correct me if I'm wrong but aren't there 2 different clock springs, the difference being if you have stereo buttons on the steering wheel or not. 84306-04080 is for the spring with the stereo buttons on my 2006 TRD Off Road.

There is one piece that you keep off your old clock spring, mount it together your good to go the 14 has all the stereo and other functions working without issue.

That would be the steering angle sensor.

I did the install. Not too hard a job, took me about 90 min as I was being careful. I was very wary of working around air bag. I bought the crazy expenisve OEM part as I did not want to do it again soon. I tried ebay part for fan resistor fix and it only lasted 10 months so that put me off chinese knockoff parts. My truck is an '11 and hopefully will not need a new one for another 12 years with the OEM. You need to order part by VIN as there are several different variations. Mine has audio & cruise, but not bluetooth.

There is an excellent video on youtube that gives great instructions
