I just recently installed stinger’s Heigh10 unit for my gen 3 Tacoma and everything about it is really nice. Only issue I am having is that the OEM backup camera is giving no signal when I throw it in reverse. Anyone else experienced this issue? I have already check connections of the rca and even tried resetting the unit, no dice.

I contacted stinger directly to help me out. There was a piece that I needed to connect to one of the harnesses.

I am having this same issue. I'm guessing I must have something plugged in wrong or not plugged in at all. Can you specify which piece you needed to plug into the harness?

There’s a small little a hip looking thing that connects to video harness. Apparently some people overlook this and it’s needed for it to work. Sadly this didn’t help my case. I’m still driving around with no reverse cam because Stinger can’t figure out the solution. I didn’t buy my HU directly from Stinger so they won’t warranty it.

How do you guys like the Stinger HU? I’m really liking the factory look the Stinger HU gives you, yet the price is steep. Thoughts please.

I love it! Only issue I’m still having is reverse cam not working. I just haven’t had time to really diagnose it or even take it somewhere to get it to work. Also the wired Apple CarPlay sucks, so I bought the OttoCast module on Amazon to make it wireless with the HU. All in all, I love it! I have a Firestick connected to mine to watch TV, movies, & stuff.

I'm getting ready to order one as well, thanks for the info on the OttoCast, I was googling if something like that would work. How does the whole Firestick thing work and how'd you bypass the parking brake deactivation? Thanks!!

Firestick works just like it would on your TV. I grounded the parking brake wire to the screw that connects the dash kit to the brain. And update: Got my reverse cam to finally work. It was a loose wire of all things. lol

Thanks for the info. I ordered mine yesterday and am looking forward to installing it.
I’m glad you figured yours out and it was such a simple fix.

Geez! Same Problem! No Signal for the Reverse Cam.

I've taken everything back out and gone through the directions. Seems everything is connected properly. So frustrating!

BTW, Stinger's Video is totally out of order and different compared to the print instructions (one of the installations is actually upside down compared to the other!) for troubleshooting enjoyment! Gotta wait till Monday morning to reach the troubleshooting #.

I’m having the same issue of the reverse cam working. I switched to an aftermarket camera and it works in all other inputs (front, left, & right) when fired from the camera menu but I cannot get ANY signal from the camera through the reverse input on the unit. Any thoughts/suggestions?

My issue was that I had a dangling cable on the harness with a missing cap, plugged it in and they started working. Cap and cable pictured below:

This was my issue too. Instructions are very vague at best, but once I plugged it in.. Bam! Backup cam!! Thank you!!
