    Twins! My new 2023 SR V6 4x4
arrived yesterday afternoon after waiting a little over a month. This morning, I traded in my 2022 2.7L 4x4 for it. The 2.7L is a bulletproof engine and it does alright considering the Tacoma’s weight. I do a lot of traveling on the highways and in the mountains and decided I wanted more power. If the leaks are accurate, I love the look of the 2024, but I’m not sold on the turbo four yet. I decided to get a 2023 with a V6 before they end production. So far I’m happy with the V6 in my new Tacoma but I’ll miss my plucky little four banger.

For the most part, the first phase of my build is complete. This is exactly what I dreamed of when deciding to purchase an SR over a higher trim level.

    Suspension:
Eibach Stage 1 (2nd clip height)
    JBA Upper Control Arms
    Eibach Rear 1" Block

    Wheels/Tires:
    285/75R16 Yokohama M/T G003
SCS BR6 in Black with White Sticker

    Exterior:
    Diode Dynamics SS3 Fogs
    Diode Dynamics License Plate LEDs
    Front Chin Removed

    Future Plans:
    Diode Dynamics Hidden Lightbar
    OEM Pro Grill
    Tint
    Dobinsons MRR or Bilstein 6112/5160
    Full Leaf Pack Replacement
    34" Tires
    OEM LED Headlights

Spontaneously decided to do a DIY Softopper style build. Used 3/4” EMT conduit, couplings, elbows, hangers, nuts, bolts, washers. Planning on adding ratchet straps here and there but I got the frame all set. Gonna work on the canvas this week hopefully in time for some 4th of July weekend camping.

Put a deposit down today on the cheapest SR made. It a 2023 4cyl 4x2 utility package. I sold my 2022 TRD off road 4dr long bed back in may. I was able to buy my 18year old son his first car , pay cash for a new truck and have money left over from the sale. I realized I don’t need 4x4 or off road package.
The SR comes with the charging package, all weather floor mats and door sill protectors all for $27,900 ,,,, that comes to 30,340 OTD
Then with my trade in I am hoping to get another couple grand off so under 30k for a brand new truck. I am happy because it’s less than MSRP got them to remove the market markup and a discount which hasn’t happened in a while.
I just have to wait a couple months but it’s all good.

The 2.7 is bulletproof and easy to work on if you’re a diy guy. It’s slow, but can handle any load you throw in the bed. Change your oil after the first 1000 miles and it will go forever.

This is awesome. It’s crazy how covid has changed pricing because people got OTD for this model for 21,22k 3 years ago. That being said, it’s going to be a reliable truck and that’s all that matters. If I didn’t need the 4 doors I’d get the 4wd version. You can’t beat the 2.7 and I dont know if an engine as reliable as that will ever be made again. Post pics when you get it.

The price jumped a bit with the midcycle refresh when it got automatic braking, radar cruise, Android Auto/CarPlay, color display in the gauges, extra USB ports, etc. It has a lot more equipment than the early 3rd-gen SRs.

I have a regular SR 4-cyl 4x4 (has the back seats, rear speakers, rear sliding window, intermittent wipers, painted bumpers) and here is what I paid in May 2021 right when things were starting to get crazy. (MSRP minus $500 Toyota rebate + $199 doc fee = $30,767 OTD - paid $2k of tax separately). It was impossible to find one like this here in TX so I had to go up to Missouri to get one from a dealer in a corporate distribution region.

I like mine a lot, I will just recommend limiting it to 5th gear on the highway if there are any kind of hills, or 4th (1:1) if you are climbing any kind of grades/going up-down-up-down. I find the cruise control to be unusable (it loves to downshift into 3rd at 5000 RPM) but other than that it is a great vehicle. We have been all over in it and I get about 20 MPG around town and 21-25 on the highway depending on speed. It has a camper shell on the back and LT/E-load tires in the stock 245/75-16 size (Firestone X/Ts that are relatively light at 39 lbs vs. 31 for the OEM Destination LE2s).

The oil change is pretty easy but I would recommend getting a Form-A-Funnel to reduce drips. No issues with mine so far.

I had a 2022 TRD off-road 4dr long bed V6 and everything you said about the 2.7 is also true for the V6. Limited to 5th

Had waited 4 months for the same truck in Oregon. I had put $500 down in March and they said they wouldn’t raise the price. I got in before everything got crazy. During that same time my 2nd gen had increased in private party value by $4,000. I got lucky! Finally showed up 4 days before moving to Michigan.. Oregon doesn’t have sales tax. Got mine for $29,475(msrp) came prewired for fog lights. Felt like this was the best bang for the Buck for a 4x4 that wasn’t going to tow or haul. Even came with painted bumper caps and door handles.

Got a few mods done that have been long overdue. Transcooler, 5100s in the front at .65 setting I’ve had icon stage 2 leaf packs in the rear with 5125 shocks for a while. Added some Toyota to emblems to my fsw wheels looked naked without any and I hate trd logos.
