You need to tell what you intend to use it for. You could easily spend as much on mods as you spent on the truck, and still be complaining about the shimmy in the from axles (forgot to upgrade needle bearings with the 3" lift) or the light quality from LED headlights (you may find aiming new LEDs is not so simple).

Best rule to follow ... decide that something MUST be upgraded before you spend the money.

Now ... what do you think you will be doing with it? Rock crawling? Overlanding (RoofTopTent)? Mall Crawling only?

To help clarify that not ALL mods need to wait ...

I still have stock suspension and stock AT tires. They have allowed me to go places my Corolla could only dream of. But I did get an engine skid that has access plates for oil changes (mine was $400), a Fumoto controlled-flow oil plug that can redirect oil around the skid plate (I bought F133s, $50). A few recovery items like air compressor ($90 can buy a good one), traction boards to get you out of lost-traction ($220 can get decent ones).

These are not externally pretty but are useful regardless of how much you upgrade tires or lift the truck (or ... or ...) and let you decide what you need by trying first.

A mix between rock crawling and mall crawling. It’ll mostly be used for working and school , but once in a while i’ll take it off roading.

Start with the basics I outlined. Also replace lo-beam headlight bulbs with H9 clear glass (no colored tip, no blue or yellow coloring ... NAPA has some for $16 each) for better vision.

Then try a few trips into the wild using what you have, decide if you MUST spend more money.

Others will add basic equipment to add.

There are many TW posts on what offroad equipment to have with you.
New stock truck learn how the 4wd modes work is first. Approach and departure limits for damage control and high centering, tire placement for limiting damage, etc.
If you are going in rocks better skid plates to protect the front pan, trans, transfer, gas tank and then use them you will decide what else you want.
Looks like you are in HI so lots of mud, sand, and not sure if you get into lava rock areas as that will cut stuff up. Ask other HI TW members what they needed or review the HI specific section.
    Enjoy the Tacoma!

Congratulations on the beautiful truck! For mods, keep it simple to start, such as:
    1. Bed Mat
    2. Shift nob
    3. Radio nob(s)
    4. Husky floor mats
    5. Bed lights
After living with the truck for a while, you'll know what else to mod......

i would only recommend mods that improve the function of the vehicle AND how you intend to use it.

based on what i see and you describe, some possibilities are a bed mat, shift knob, canopy, floor mats, and seat jackers.

The only things I’ve done that I would do again that change the vehicle are deleting the accumulator, and regearing. Everything else I’ve done is just add-on niceties like aftermarket radio, footwell lighting, tail light conversion kits, floor and bed mats, etc. Simple stuff that can be removed and sold if I ever ditch the truck. I haven’t spliced a single wire yet which helps.

I personally wouldn’t recommend a lift or large tires, cab mount chop, upper control arms, etc because it just devalues the truck unless you’re going to remove it all if you want to sell. Not that you’re planning to sell, but sometimes that comes up for whatever reason.

    Enjoy!

The truck is fine, except the color is a bit hard on the eyes. Just drive it the way it came, and stop trying to make it what it ain't.

Love the color and clutch. The truck will need some led Christmas lights in Dec when you cruise Kane'ohe Christmas Lane.

More than fine stock..get skids and sliders (and a lift) if you'll actually be crawling. Mod #1 should probably be tires.

Work on paying it off asap. Not sure where in the country you are but I recently tinted my front windows to match the rear and it looks great, reduces the heat and I can see better when the sun is shining.
