Man, I hate to think about the times I just threw in whatever store bought stuff they had for cheap.

It wasn't until I got into the LT1/4 motors that it was imperative to understand the cooling system as they had a reversed cooling setup in their heads. That and the varying optispark (vented, non-vented) setups, you made sure your shit didn't leak, overheat, and had a good thermostat at all times. And if your shit leaked, you were replacing that optispark.

Great power out of that V8 cause it got you into the 13s with simple bolt ons, but they ran hotter to meet emissions standards all while trying to stay ahead of Ford's V8.

 

brother gave me his 12 inch sub since the self powered amp died. I was thinking of hooking an actual amp up to it and re using the box and sub. Can anyone vouch for getting a new self powered amp from their website instead? Figure if anything i might be able to get more out of the sub

Your coolant woes will continue with the 6.0l. they use Ford gold coolant which is v special and can't be mixed with anything else or it forms solids that clog the oil cooler

 

I think this was when I was really going all in doing mekanik shit passed simple maintenance. Learned a shit ton on GM's platform. The motors are all the same, it's just the weird shit GM would introduce to make mo powah IE L98's long intake manifold runners, LT4's larger cam vs the LT1 and reverse cooling system, and other "advances" they made only for people to replace it anyway.

You're supposed to measure that shit at the terminals and adjust gain from there with your HU at 3/4 volume.
