    hi to all.
just found this forum, im in australia, i have a 97 v6 3.4 and all i can find is a standard 80amp alternator.
i just read there is an upgrade out there from an existing caddy or gm alternator.

in Australia , when your alternater goes down, you can wait along time to get a part, because its so far away from everything here, im doing a upgrade on my mint 97 v6 , what can i do as im kitting this mint 216 k kms one owner truck out, nothing ourageous, sensible and cost effective.
also, do you have "lift kits" im looking at bilstein here, im curious to whats available US side

    cheers,
    jason

There were a couple folks on here that did a swap to an alternator from a Kia, myself included. Was a pretty straightforward change, and got me a bit more voltage. Let me do some digging for the part#.

You had to modify it a bit to mount it right? Enlarge the main mounting bolt hole on the alt?

OP, this is a 105 amp alt. A substantial increase over the stock alt. Here is a thread on this topic.

Remains to be seen I bought the tires and wheels the rest came along
I can only guess Shipping Down Under is crazy expensive .

Shipping to Canada is bad enough.

I have to think a alternator more common to your area would be a better choice.

Any Auto Electrical shops even close look to having the output of your Alternator turned up.

hi, could you find out the kia car and model?
that would be great, im getting ridiculous prices here
everything is so expensive in Australia because everything is imported, and caddys, and other US vehicles are always over 30 years old due to import rules and parts are specialist.
a kia swap would be good.
    if possible.thanks,
    jason

just parts changers here im afraid, and its hard to even get anyone half good to do any modification or repairs, verging on impossible.
rebuilders are hacks, people just dont care - ideally a kia would be the way to go as kias are imported. i got a $700 usd +tax quote for a 140 amp denso john deera alternator.

    Best of Luck !

i guess if you want to play you need to pay the price:spending:

Just why do you need the higher output Alternator ? Exciting and interesting after market electrical loads?

Yes, essentially drill out the threads from one of the mounting holes. Went quick for me.

    yes..
i have nathan airchime train horns to go on, that require a large compressor, and i am constructing a upgrade to use Aircraft landing lights that are 250 and 600 watts each plus a good stereo and backup power to run fridge, and laptop, and inverter for offgrid diy using mains power voltages, angle grinders, drills etc

    thats would be great.
ideally i would like a domestically available unit off a vehicle that was imported to Australia, otherwise its rocking horse poop hunting time
