I recently got an Auxbeam panel for my 2nd gen. I've already wired up my rear camera to it and it's working well but I'd like to add a front camera as well. The plan is to have two buttons, one for the front and one for the back. They won't both be turned on at the same time.

The head unit basically needs 2 inputs to display images from the camera. It needs a video feed and a trigger (which is supposed to be when you put the vehicle in reverse). I have it hooked up right now where the video goes from the rear camera to the head unit. I then have the power to the camera as well as the trigger hooked up to one of the auxbeam circuits. This way when I turn the circuit on, it provides power to the camera and triggers the head unit to display the image.

Since there's only one trigger and video feed wire, I'm thinking I'll splice the video wires together going from the two cameras to the head unit and then splice the trigger wires going from the auxbeam panel to the head unit. I don't think this will cause any issues but I'm not electronics wiz. Anyone see anything gnaringly obvious why this might be a bad idea?

it should work. just depends on the cameras used. some like to short the video output when not in use, which would disable the other camera. if that happens, you'll need to trigger a relay with the auxbeam panel to jump between one of the video signals.
