    IMG_3541.jpg image.jpg Hi,

I upgraded my head unit into my 2003 Tacoma recently. This is what I installed. https://www.crutchfield.com/product/item/default.aspx?i=500UTE73BT
It works great but I have not been able to get it mounted flush. The dash cover pops out whenever I push in too hard. There is a resulting gap at the bottom. See pic. It should fit according to crutchfield. I was hoping someone else had dealt with this issue and could advise me.

Either a poor fitting kit, or the plug/wiring is pushing the radio out some once installed. Did you have the double DIN radio or the single DIN ( like what’s installed now?)

    I had a double din.

I’d start by pulling out the whole thing, and reroute the harness. Is the harness taped up? Did you use butt connectors or solder to marry the harnesses? Looks like it’s not much, and it could be resolved by routing a bit better.

I didn’t think to tape up the harness. Crutchfield pre-wired the harness for me. I’ll try taking it out again and zip tying the harness up tight. Thanks!

i usually also mount my radios 1 screw slot further back than the clip-in rectangular adapters allow, tends to make for a more flush radio install
