3/4 drop tacoma

We need some more pictures of lowered tacoma's. Here is mine from over the years...The details are located in my member gallery. All pictures were with a DJM 3/4 kit. Flipping of the balljoints, new upper control arms, angled aluminum blocks.

Hows the ride with the DJM kit? I'm thinking of one for my 09 Taco and could use some input.

I no longer have the DJM kit on my truck. When I did have it, it rode pretty good. I didn't notice much of a difference in ride. The kit doesn't change suspension travel. You won't have a rough ride because the coils aren't cut. All the kit did for the 95-04's was put a 4" block and reposition the balljoints. The coil springs stayed the same. The shocks might give a stiff ride, but it wasn't annoying. My stock height truck feels the same as when I was lowered.

If you were to cut the coils, that's a different story....

I am not sure on the 05-09 kits since they have a coil-over front suspension and the 95-04 didn't.

 

Thanks for the input, looks like there's a couple different kits out there now for 09's Belltech and DJM. Your truck looks great, very clean appearance.

I just dropped my truck this past weekend using the same DJM kit. The instructions sucked, but overall I like the result.

All I need now is a roll pan and a newly painted front bumper.

 

Looks great!, How tough was the kit installation? Any issues, special tools needed?

The kit was pretty easy to install. The main thing that made it difficult were removing all the rusty bolts and myself working without power tools. Also as I said the instructions are very incomplete. An example would be they give you 16 standard 1/2" washers yet only tell you in the directions to use 4 of them, you have to figure the rest out. There are plenty of other similar examples of the instructions not being complete. Not too bad, but frustrating for an engineer like myself.

It would help to have a press for installing and removing bushings, but a decent sized vice would suffice.

I ended up replacing all my ball joints and tie rod ends, mainly because of damaged boots from using the splitter tools. I was shocked, no pun intended, just how bad my factory shocks were. My rear shocks were basically doing nothing. All the gas was gone.

 

yea thats how my shocks were compress them and they wouldnt return to the top they were junk

 

Wow, bet lowering opens up a whole new can of worms as far as alignment issues, just like lifting.

Not my thing, but nice looking truck.
