Hello, I have a 2016 tacoma. I setup an appt with this company to spray underneath my vehicle. This is the video they sent me https://youtu.be/u79ZTH8gNTY
Does the science on this make sense? I have very minor rust like the nuts and bolts are rusty but not much else. Just want to see if this is a waste or not. Quoted 350 for it.

Sounds good. If you live here in the northeast, you gotta have some sort of rust protection if planning to keep your truck 10 years or more. Only issue with that stuff from NH oil coating, it needs to be kept up with. After a year or two that oil coating will wash away in many areas that are exposed.

I figured it’s not a permanent solution but I don’t really think anything would be. I always thought I’d have to get it re applied

Do you live in salt country and use it in the winter? Your description of condition doesn't really sound that way for a 7 yo truck.

My 2 cents is to just buy a six pack of Fluid Film from Amazon, or go to Lowe’s and buy them there and craw underneath and do it yourself to save some coin.

I had NH-Oil applied to my new Tacoma last hear shortly after I picked it up. They told me I had to have the coating refreshed yearly; something I'm more than happy to do.

I live in southern nj but I bought the truck used with 20k miles on it in the fall. It came from a carmax in MA. I will take a picture when I get done work and put it in here. But from my eyes the bolts are rusted because I put some side steps on and the bolts were rusted. However the frame itself doesn’t look rusted. A picture will probably do you better so as soon as I can I will post pictures

It is all the same...paraffin or lanolin based wax aerosol coating that is sprayed on everything metal under the truck. Much like spray paint. I coat once a year here in KC and have no visible rust after 2 years of heavy salt driving. It stinks so be sure to do outside and wear sleeves as it will stick to arm hair. I use AMSoil Heavy Duty MP for about $10 a can. Costs me $40 a year depending on how hard I wheel it. I will reapply to spindle, sliders, skids, anything that gets gouged or scratched while on the trails.

My 4R has had it on since new 2017! Hit it every yr with a few cans to touch up some area’s that have wore off. No rust on it at all.

If you are really serious buy the Fluid Film air powered gun and a gallon bucket of FF.

I live in salt country and see what happens to cars/trucks without it. I do think OP was quoted a bit on the high end.
I use Krown and they charge me $140.00.
I don’t mind paying Krown to do it once a year as it’s a messy job, and they lift my truck, stand underneath it and thoroughly spray every nook and cranny. They have great customer service too, and there’s always coffee and donuts while I wait.
